Pharmacy Week and Depakote Cupcakes

Happy Pharmacy Week! Ok, so technically it’s Hospital and Health-System Pharmacy Week… but it’s close enough! And make sure to thank and/or hug a pharmacy technician tomorrow because it’s Pharmacy Technician Appreciation Day! I feel lucky to say I have amazing techs! Definitely couldn’t do it without them. I ordered a cake and cupcakes from Honeycakes for tomorrow… super excited about how they came out! Plus, I’ve been smelling them all evening (that’s not weird, right?) and they smell like a heavenly night of sleep feels (aka aaaamazing). The cake is chocolate hazelnut and the cupcakes are vanilla chai. Danny smelled the cupcakes and thought they smelled terrible, like “Depakote” he says… I think he’s insane, as per usual. I can’t wait to eat my Depakote cupcakes. BTW the Honeycakes ladies are big supporters of BDAR + they make delicious things = they are basically winning in my book!

Second Half-Marathon

I ran my second half-marathon this morning. I have yet to train for one of these things, but I think I would like to one day. Last time was the Rock ‘N’ Roll half with my family in Vegas last December. They got me to sign up the day before. This one was a competition on base (they call it Frontiercade… there’s archery, soccer, tug-of-war, a commander’s chip toss, running races, etc. etc… and all of the groups/squadrons go up against one another)… but you automatically got 4 points for finishing the half. So I signed up a few days ago. I can’t remember my time from last year… but this one was 2:33… not great by any means, but only 5 minutes from the 3rd place under-30 female :) Oh, and as of today, I have been in the Air Force for exactly 2 years. Can’t believe how fast it goes by!

Ultimate Frisbee

Played ultimate frisbee today for Medgroup PT. It actually is a decent workout, considering all I do is run around like a crazy person and throw my arms around like I’m actually going to catch something. I touched the frisbee exactly 3 times. First, I picked it up to hand to the other team. Second, I blocked a throw really close to someone so my hand hurt for a while. And last, I tried to throw it once… and got blocked. There were plenty of holes in the grass, though, so running was challenging… it was a game in itself just to stay upright and not trip and fall on your face (which a few people did). Love it.

Basic Writing Skills

I’m not even sure what a hashtag is… but if I were to use one right now, it would be #preceptorproblems …how do you tell someone they need to go start over and learn how to write a proper sentence. :/ Yes, I realize I am not a pro writer and I definitely don’t always use proper sentence structure here… but if you are a professional student in a graduate program turning in a paper – I believe you should be expected to write at a certain level. Fun Fact: According to the Tongue and Quill (the AF’s guide to effective communication), sentences should generally not have more than 20 words (average is 17 words).

Life Updates

So as you may or may not know, I was supposed to be on a ship right now traveling around Central America on my humanitarian deployment… but that got officially cancelled almost a month ago. And what have I done since then? I really couldn’t tell you! Time has been flying by like crazy! Work has been insane and I constantly feel like I am just trying to keep my head above water. One thing I know is that I finally retired my little ’96 Nissan for a new-to-me ’13 Ford Edge, and I am loving it! I loved my little pink car, but it was time to move on. And although I am now getting half the MPG I was before (filled up my new car for the first time this week and it was painful watching the $$ go up and up…), but it’s alright. It’s worth it for the incredible jump in safety and comfort I now have. Anyway, what else is new?! Danny and I decided to adopt Finn, our 7th …
