Sunday Sew Love: 30 November

This week was extra exciting for me… Thursday was not only an awesome day of eating and family time, it was also my official official last day in the military! On Friday, I received my “Certificate of Release from Active Duty” form and email and it was such a weird feeling. I’ve been on terminal leave for the past month, so I haven’t been at work, but it still feels different. More on that later! I hope everyone who celebrates Thanksgiving had an awesome one! And for everyone else, I hope you still had some great food and a very happy Thursday. We had an awesome meal with the fam; my aunt and grandma made it down for the day. My grandma has a hard time getting around so my Aunt told her if she wanted to come see her great grandbaby she needed to be able to use her walker. So she got up a few times a day to practice with her walker so they could come visit! So sweet… she’s so excited to …

Stitch Fix #6 – November

Got home from Vegas to a wonderful surprise! My November Stitch Fix box! Okay so technically I knew it was coming, but it was exciting nonetheless. ;) It was scheduled to come the day we were leaving but after a quick email to the Stitch Fix peeps they changed the date no problem. Love their customer service! Here’s what I got this month — my request was for some items to wear for work. Tulle Abner Long Sleeve Textured Sheath Dress | $68 | Status: Sent back I wanted to love this dress. The color was really nice and it had a fun texture and perfect length, but it just didn’t fit quite right. Would be a great holiday dress, though! Market and Spruce Jay Mini Houndstooth Printed Skirt | $58 | Status: Sent back Since I started sewing, I’m so much more critical of RTW clothing. This skirt was okay, but it was definitely something I felt would be a super easy sew so I wasn’t about to pay $58 for it. I’m sure …

Salme Vegas Blazer

I downloaded the Salme Cropped Blazer pattern back in June when I made my Minna blouse but didn’t get around to making it till now. The Monthly Stitch outerwear challenge this month was the perfect motivation :) And it was good timing… it was something fun to wear in Vegas! We went for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon this past weekend and had sooo much fun (even though we were sore and hobbling around half the time we were there)!   I found this stretch herringbone suiting fabric when it was on sale at Mood. It reminded me of this one, although there was no way I was going to attempt a lining like she did. :) I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who had trouble with the mitered corners. I absolutely did mine incorrectly… lol I also did the shoulders incorrectly, but I was having one of those moments. I realized I was just not going to understand the directions no matter how many times I read them over so I just did …

Also I’m super excited to share my next make… my first attempt at outerwear! Coming once I get some pictures taken of it… in Vegas, baby! :) Alisa, I’m in your neck of the woods! If we were here longer I’d ask to meet you for lunch! :) I’m running participating in the Rock ‘n’ Roll half this weekend. Although I had big plans for training, those kinda absolutely fell to the wayside as I was finishing up at work and moving and all. So this one is definitely a just-for-fun run! Until next time,
