Catching Up… Maui Wedding Makes!

Let’s not talk about when I actually made these… ;) Let’s just jump right in… First up… TEAM BRIDE Shirts! The bride helped me with these ones… I broke out my Cricut for the first time in a LONG time (I’ve only used it a couple of times – here and here – but when I need it, it definitely comes in handy!!!). I cut and she ironed :) We ALMOST ran out of the vinyl, so we had to get creative with the cutting on the last couple, but we ended up having just enough!   The shirts are from here, and we used glitter vinyl that I’ve had sitting around for a couple of years. I can’t even remember what I originally bought it for :/ All of the shirts were mint except for the bride’s which of course was white and just said Bride. I originally had thought about buying them… but this way was so much better! Not to mention quicker and cheaper! See them in full bridal force here. :) Next up, the Hey June …

Catching Up… July Makes!

Alright, I realize it’s almost the end of August, but for the sake of record keeping :) here’s a quick rundown of my makes from July! There were two. They were both easy, and super comfy – as any summer makes should be, right!? First up, the Santa Fe Top from Hey June! The pattern itself is great, as with all of hers (hence the hashtag!). I made view E in my usual size S, no alterations.   My star and stripe fabrics were from Girl Charlee, and the grey jersey is from Felinus Fabrics (purchased July 2015… yay for a little stashbusting! …well, if that’s what you call it when you buy a yard each of stars and stripes and barely use any, then use less than a yard of the jersey from your stash). :)   I didn’t have a good grey color thread at the time so I went for red and blue. Sometimes you want things to look RTW… sometimes you just have to go for things that you would never find in RTW. Like …

A Bridal Shower Charleston Dress + a few extras :)

So I was on the hunt for the perfect pattern for this dress for a while. I had my fabric picked out (although I changed it up last minute and got a different lace).  I knew I was looking for knee length, somewhat form fitting or a-line, preferably sleeveless, and something that I could do a double layer with lace overlay. I had a few picked out but nothing seemed quite right. Luckily that was right about the time that Adrianna released her Charleston Dress pattern… and my decision was done! Bonus points that it had pockets… that was a total win because B loves pockets!   This, BTW, is my beautiful BFF who you’ve probably seen pop up here a time or two as she’s one of the very few people that I will actually sew things for. It’s a very short list. Anyway, she’s getting married next month in Maui (sooo excited!) Of course I had to do something special for her shower, so I told her I’d make her dress. I got the …

Last few makes of 2015!

I know, I know… it’s halfway through January already. But I’m claiming these as 2015 because they were mostly finished in December. :) First up, a little Star Wars goodness!   I just couldn’t resist this fabric from Knitorious Fabrics (this was my first exposure to custom knit prints other than Spoonflower… it’s very dangerous territory!) so I made some leggings for myself and PJ pants for the guy. Mine were done minus hemming in time to go see the new Star Wars on Christmas Eve. His I completed after we got home from the movie and dinner in time to wrap up for Christmas morning :) Naturally, I used my go-to Matilda Leggings for these (unfortunately they have fully switched over to kid patterns only… which are adorable of course but it’s sad for their women’s patterns which have disappeared – so glad I downloaded all of them way back when! ;)  I went with my usual adjustments (added 1/2″ to the rise and sized down on the waistband). I also doubled the waistband …

May KnitFix & A Union St. Tee Hack

I go back and forth between picking a pattern to match my fabric and picking fabric to match my pattern. I usually go with the latter, but sometimes it’s fun to have the fabric first and find a pattern that fits. That brings us to KnitFix! I got one back in December and told myself I could get another one once I’d used all the different fabrics (it comes with 6 surprise 2-yard knit cuts and it’s a really fun way to try new knits that you wouldn’t necessarily pick out yourself… kinda like Stitch Fix for sewing!). Well, it’s been 6 months… and I still have two that I haven’t used from that December fix so I finally gave in and got a second one. :) And to be fair, I do have plans for the last two… I just need to execute them :) So here’s what I got! No idea what to do with the weird pink & brown print one. The card says it’s a floral, but I’m not really sure …
