Wedding DIY: Part 3 | Star Wars Ties & Bow Ties + Groomsmen Gifts

I love you. I know. :) Okay… before you start… click here if you’d like a soundtrack to go along with this post while you read. For our wedding ceremony, we used a string quartet version of Canon in D for the bridal party processional and Take My Hand by Emily Hackett for the father/daughter walk down the aisle (side note: try watching that video and not crying… I can’t do it… and I #couldnt on the day either; had to take a few huge breaths before walking down the aisle because I was about to be a blubbering mess). DIY-ing a wedding can be a little bit stressful but overall a whole lot of fun. The real reason I wanted to DIY so much of our wedding was to get all of those personalized details there’s really no other way of getting! Photo Credit: Brooke Beasley Photography From day 1, I knew we had to incorporate Star Wars in some way. Danny and I both grew up on the movies, and come on, it’s Star …

Wedding DIY: Part 2 | Save the Dates & Invitations + Bridal Jewelry

It was 104°F yesterday when I went outside for lunch. Got up to 114° in some spots around here. I’m all for the summertime heat, but this week has been exhausting! I’m sure many of you are feeling it where you are too! Makes me think back to the summers I worked outside building docks right across from the movie theater where all of my friends worked in the nice, cool air conditioning. ha! Loved that job, but now that I’m older all I can say is how glad and thankful I am to have an indoor job! :) On to it! Our save-the-dates went through SO MANY revisions (this was version 10) :) because I’m picky and I waited until the last minute to send them. I originally wanted to have a picture of us on there but we ended up having to push back our engagement photos a few times (rain, etc…) so instead the pups got to be center stage! Because, well, look at those faces… I used the same photos of …

Wedding DIY: Part 1 | Bridal Party Proposal Cards + Bridesmaid Gifts

Happy Wednesday! Today is the day we begin the arduous but necessary documentation of all of our wedding DIY adventures. :) Because if you don’t write it down, it never happened. That’s what I tell my peeps at work. So here I am, living by my word. ;) Check back every Wednesday for another installment of the wedding adventures, if you find them interesting. Otherwise, just stop by anyway and say hi. Or don’t. Just do you. :) Okay, so you get engaged. Then what? For me, the next step was all about the bridal party. Honest moment here, I’ve never been a courthouse wedding kind of girl. There’s just something about being surrounded by all of the people that you love for that one awesome/epic day that always appealed to me. With that, though, comes the wedding party. How big do you go? How many on each side? Do you have to have the same number on each side? If I have everyone that I want up there, will there be anyone left to …

Love Always

Found out some awesome news yesterday at work… one of our volunteers, who is 73 years old, has plans to get married later in the year. I just thought that was the sweetest thing. You never know when love will find you. They still had to take the test at her church and are waiting to hear back the results (of which he seemed a little uncertain) but he was also just so happy, you couldn’t help but let his news brighten your day!

Blood Money

Well… to be a little more specific, plasma money. They say you should live like a student while you are paying off student loans. Well I’m now taking that to the next level. Danny and I have resorted to selling our plasma for extra spending money. Yes, I am a full-time pharmacist, but there are too many flights to buy! :) I’m not sure how I feel about it yet; we only went the one time so far, but I have my second “donation” scheduled for tomorrow. I must say, walking into the BioLife place doesn’t quite give me the warm fuzzies like the blood bank, and it’s not quite as luxurious either (no warm blankets or calcium chews to munch on when your lips start to tingle… and they didn’t even have one of those hand things for me to squeeze to get my blood pumping), but it’s hard to say no to free money when all you have to do is sit there and read for a little while. I figure I will keep it up …
