Last Year’s Makes

There’s been a lot going on over the last few months, but I’m excited to finally do a little catch-up and share a few makes from the end of the year on here. Most of my DIY time last year was spent on wedding makes, but I did actually make a few unrelated things in the second half of the year. I shared them here and there on IG, but here’s a round up! First up: Ella Top by Liola Patterns, Julia Cardigan from Mouse House Creations, and Pixie Wallet from Home Row Fiber Co. — I shared these three over on The Monthly Stitch for Indie Pattern Month if you’d like to read more about them. The cardigan has become one of my favorite makes to date. It’s a super lightweight fabric but it was perfect for this double-layer design. I have to admit, I threw it in the wash after the first time wearing it and somehow immediately misplaced it for about 6 months (ha!… it’s not just socks that the laundry elves steal!). But I found it again a month or …

Wedding DIY: Part 2 | Save the Dates & Invitations + Bridal Jewelry

It was 104°F yesterday when I went outside for lunch. Got up to 114° in some spots around here. I’m all for the summertime heat, but this week has been exhausting! I’m sure many of you are feeling it where you are too! Makes me think back to the summers I worked outside building docks right across from the movie theater where all of my friends worked in the nice, cool air conditioning. ha! Loved that job, but now that I’m older all I can say is how glad and thankful I am to have an indoor job! :) On to it! Our save-the-dates went through SO MANY revisions (this was version 10) :) because I’m picky and I waited until the last minute to send them. I originally wanted to have a picture of us on there but we ended up having to push back our engagement photos a few times (rain, etc…) so instead the pups got to be center stage! Because, well, look at those faces… I used the same photos of …

Wedding DIY: Part 1 | Bridal Party Proposal Cards + Bridesmaid Gifts

Happy Wednesday! Today is the day we begin the arduous but necessary documentation of all of our wedding DIY adventures. :) Because if you don’t write it down, it never happened. That’s what I tell my peeps at work. So here I am, living by my word. ;) Check back every week for another installment of the wedding adventures, if you find them interesting. Otherwise, just stop by anyway and say hi. Or don’t. Just do you. :) Okay, so you get engaged. Then what? For me, the next step was all about the bridal party. Honest moment here, I’ve never been a courthouse wedding kind of girl. There’s just something about being surrounded by all of the people that you love for that one awesome/epic day that always appealed to me. With that, though, comes the wedding party. How big do you go? How many on each side? Do you have to have the same number on each side? If I have everyone that I want up there, will there be anyone left to …

Free PDF Adopt Me Vest Sewing Pattern! +My Favorite Non-Profit Orgs

First things first! I created a PDF sewing pattern! This one has been a long time coming. And by that I mean I’ve been lazy and didn’t get around to making it until I was asked by BDAR a few weeks ago for input on making adopt me vests. I’ve made them a few batches of vests in the past, but of course they get lost or worn out over time, so they were looking to make some more. Actually, they are thinking of having a fabric drive and sewing party to make adopt me vests! Is that not the best idea ever!? It’s like an old-school LAN party… but with sewing machines instead of computers! And all for a good cause. Love it! So anywhoo… I finally got around to putting this together. The pattern is free, of course, but if you use it or find any benefit to it, please consider donating any amount to Black Dog Animal Rescue, the org the pattern was created for, or any local animal rescue of your …

Flight Suit Purse A Go-Go

Why a go-go? It just felt right. :) So I guess it turned out more of a tote than a purse… but anywhoo… here’s the finished product. As mentioned, I made this one for a friend from one of her boyfriend’s old flight suits. She gave me a couple of flight suits to play around with, and picked out the blue zebra duck cloth from Hobby Lobby for the lining. Now I just have to get it into the mail. I hope she likes it!    My favorite part is the front pockets… all still functional, I just cut out the old fabric and added another layer of the lining so it shows in the pockets too. :) The inside pockets were all stolen from the pant legs. I sewed the two big pockets together then onto the lining only along the outside and one line up the middle so they are more like double pockets. I really liked the examples I saw with the strap coming around from the back to the front, so I …
