Free PDF Adopt Me Vest Sewing Pattern! +My Favorite Non-Profit Orgs

First things first! I created a PDF sewing pattern! This one has been a long time coming. And by that I mean I’ve been lazy and didn’t get around to making it until I was asked by BDAR a few weeks ago for input on making adopt me vests. I’ve made them a few batches of vests in the past, but of course they get lost or worn out over time, so they were looking to make some more. Actually, they are thinking of having a fabric drive and sewing party to make adopt me vests! Is that not the best idea ever!? It’s like an old-school LAN party… but with sewing machines instead of computers! And all for a good cause. Love it! So anywhoo… I finally got around to putting this together. The pattern is free, of course, but if you use it or find any benefit to it, please consider donating any amount to Black Dog Animal Rescue, the org the pattern was created for, or any local animal rescue of your …

Colors Quiet Book: Putting it All Together

There are definitely a number of tutorials out there on how to put together a quiet book, but I didn’t particularly love any of them. So here was my attempt at creating my own way. Disclaimer: I didn’t pay attention and ordered the pages completely wrong! :/ My original goal was to put them in the order of the rainbow… you know; figured that made the most sense. But then I didn’t plan it out. I blame it on being a beginner… or maybe I was just lacking that attention to detail they always talk about in the military :/ But either way, I wasn’t about to take it all apart once I realized what I did. lol… so you will notice there is absolutely no logical order to the colors in the finished book. Anywhoo… we’ll just ignore that little detail and show how I put it all together: Step 1: Cut long rectangular strips of fleece and sew your pages to them. With right sides together, sew coordinating pages together, flip inside out …

Easy Walk Harness Padding

The pups love to go for walks. And when I say love I mean LOVE with a capital everything and rawhides on top. We use a halti collar with Zoe. She’s a pro when she has it on. Finn on the other hand… we’re still working on. He chewed his way through his halti twice, but still pulls too much for just his regular collar.  So… we got him an Easy Walk harness. It has completely changed the way he walks. And it’s perfectly safe… except last time… we went for a really long walk with him and it rubbed under his little arm so much that he ended up with a bloody armpit and then a scab that he wouldn’t stop scratching at. We had to wait a while to go for another walk and watch it to make sure he was healing. SO… here’s my solution! Fleece pup harness padding! It was only rubbing his skin on the bottom strap… so I cut a rectangular piece of fleece the length of that strap, folded it …

Colors Quiet Book

OK… I’m fairly confident that the person I’m making this for doesn’t even know I have this blog. So I think I’m pretty safe posting it. We’ll hope for the best… :) And if not… oh well… SURPRISE! :) So here’s my first attempt at making a quiet book. I’m sure there will be more of these in my future… they are so adorable and there’s a whole world of options of things to make — AND, it gives me a good reason to use my Cricut to cut fabric. :) It’s like the perfect mixture of scrapbooking and quilting. Here’s what I started with. I made a huge mess and went through all of my fabric, ribbon, buttons, etc. to sort everything into colors. From there I decided what I wanted to use for each page to get a good mixture of colors and textures. I cut a small rectangle of grey fleece for the base of each page and started laying things out from there… In order to not overwhelm myself with posting… I’m …
