Fall Sewing Plans

Sitting here waiting for my dinner to finish in the oven, I just came across the Fall Essentials Sew-Along on Rhinestones & Telephones. So of course while I could easily be working on other things, I instead decided to see how my fall sewing wishlist fit into the sewalong categories. :) Here are three that fit in perfectly: Fashionable Foundations for Frosty Weather: Urban Wear Jersey Pants from Ottobre’s last issue in Grey Ponte Knit Chic Chemises for Cool Climates: Hey June Biscayne Blouse in a Madras Plaid Fabulous Frocks: Dixie DIY Bonnell Dress in this beautiful Brocade Although they may or may not be touched before November 14th… a girl can dream, right!? :) What are you sewing this fall (or whatever season you are currently experiencing)? Hope you had a great weekend! We did a color run walk today… it was a lot of fun, but oh my goodness what a mess! =D Until next time,

Countdown to a Frozen Halloween: 6-Week Sewing Progress!

So I didn’t make as much progress this week…. but it was a little more detailed so I guess that’s fair :) You may have guessed it from my fabric and last week’s progress, but this week is a complete giveaway! I’m sewing Frozen costumes! Wahooo! Or… at least attempting to.  :) I drafted a pattern for Anna’s bodice/top by drawing out the shape I wanted over a tank that I knew fit to get the sizing right (or at least close), and adding a sweetheart neckline and v at the bottom. This also marks my first time making a muslin! I used an old sheet that I still had from our Dwarf Mine decorations from Halloween two years ago. After a few drafts of the pattern and two muslins (can you make muslin plural? hmm… not sure, but I just did), I got my final pattern pieces and cut my top. I cut the front as two pieces so there is a seam down the middle front and the back as one piece cut on the fold. …

Miss Matatabi Noodlehead Divided Basket for the Dogs!

Okay, okay… I had one last project to complete before jumping into Halloween! You’ve probably heard me mention BDAR on here before (just a time or two…) ;) If not, they are a super great organization I volunteered for back in Wyoming. They take in dogs from shelters all across Wyoming… lots who are “high risk” of being put down including those who either don’t photograph or show well in the shelter (i.e. black dogs or those who stress out too much in the shelter environment) or are just unlucky to be in high kill shelters that fill up too fast. They are pros at adopting out these “less-adoptables”. They also brought this guy into my life, so that’s a win right there :) So anyway… a while back I found this wine while on a wine tasting adventure and thought it absolutely needed to go to BDAR :) Perfect for their annual Bark & Wine fundraising event silent auction, don’t you think!? I made something for the event 2 years ago but missed last year. …

Made Up: Sutton Blouse!

As I’m sure those of you in the sewing world have seen, the Made Up Initiative from Karen at Did You Make That? is well underway and it’s pretty amazing to see how much has been raised so far (£2,402.90 as I write this… all to benefit the National Literacy Trust)!! Way to be, sewing world. :D My pledge was to finish (okay, start…) :/ the Sutton blouse I’ve been planning for B (my bff since about the 1st grade)… she is turning 30 later this month (aka joining the fun club!) so when she was over a few weeks ago to pupsit I left out a pile of fabrics and had her pick her favorite. She picked this “Watercolor Floral Polyester Chiffon” that I got on sale from Mood back in March. Funny thing is it’s one that I picked out specifically for her back then, but when it came it didn’t end up working for the project I had planned, so it’s been sitting in my stash ever since. By the way… B, if you …
