Flight Suit Purse A Go-Go

Why a go-go? It just felt right. :) So I guess it turned out more of a tote than a purse… but anywhoo… here’s the finished product. As mentioned, I made this one for a friend from one of her boyfriend’s old flight suits. She gave me a couple of flight suits to play around with, and picked out the blue zebra duck cloth from Hobby Lobby for the lining. Now I just have to get it into the mail. I hope she likes it!    My favorite part is the front pockets… all still functional, I just cut out the old fabric and added another layer of the lining so it shows in the pockets too. :) The inside pockets were all stolen from the pant legs. I sewed the two big pockets together then onto the lining only along the outside and one line up the middle so they are more like double pockets. I really liked the examples I saw with the strap coming around from the back to the front, so I …

Halloween 2014

Halloween 2014… a.k.a. the year I bought an entire bold of fabric and didn’t sew anything :) And the year of lazy costumes. Basically, the complete opposite of last year. Halloween was weird this year. It was my last official day in the military, we were getting ready to move across the country, AND I didn’t do really anything for my costumes. Call me a costume snob, but I blame my mom (love you, Mom!) ;) I was spoiled and never had a store-bought costume growing up, and I’ve always tried to avoid them as much as possible. This year I had two costumes, both thrown together with regular clothes… they weren’t my favorites but they worked out alright. So first up, just in case you’ve ever wondered what an entire bold of army green broadcloth looks like… here ya go: Here’s the whole M*A*S*H crew: And here was the same group (mostly) the weekend before: :) Oh my goodness, I’m going to miss all of them so much! Who wouldn’t!? Check that group out! …

Lately I’ve been feeling the holiday season creeping up on us deep in my bones. Is that even possible? I don’t know, but I feel it nonetheless :) And it feels good! And how adorable is the sewing print skirt… love it! :) Lastly, I can’t seem to get enough stripes. You must check out the beautiful engagement photos and Angie’s Emery dress (on the left, photos by Ettevy Photography)… I’m such a sucker for simple, beautiful shots. Speaking of which, I’ve been taking pictures since I was old enough to hold a camera but I’ve never put in a real effort to improve my photography. So, last Saturday I took a class down in Colorado from Bart Levy. (Thanks Living Social for the great deal and helping me learn something… count that as …

No Motrin No Mission

Meet my pharmacy staff! We recently had t-shirts printed for the pharmacy. Here’s part of what we included on the back, along with the phrase “No Motrin No Mission” :)     I’m sure you can guess which one is me. Oh my goodness, though, they all crack me up.  Tomorrow I have a pre-move home inspection. Basically, they are coming to the house to see what sort of packing materials they’re going to need to bring and what large items they’ll need to pack, etc, etc. It’s all getting very real. We’ll be moving in a couple of months. I’m so excited and yet a little nervous. Getting a license in CA is a nightmare; they finally got back to me after 3 months of waiting to tell me I’m missing something the application specifically says I do not need. And they are impossible to get a hold of. Oh, the fun. Once that part is over, though, I think it will be smooth sailing. I’m going to miss my coworkers here (I mean look …
