Panama Tee Dress Testing

Hello and happy November! Don’t even get me started on how it is almost Thanksgiving already ;) So I have a few other things I need to post, but I couldn’t wait any longer to share my most recent pattern testing experience… this time with Alina Design Sewing | Design Co. :) While still in the midst of searching for the perfect tee dress pattern since I made my last one (albeit not looking all THAT hard) ;) I thankfully got the email announcing a tester call for Alina’s newest release, the Panama Tee Dress! It came at the prefect time, too. It was right at the end of my crazy Halloween sewing week and right before I planned to get started on my wedding dress (I told myself November… but again, it’s already almost Thanksgiving… what is happening!?) ;). Anyway, I couldn’t resist. So without further ado, here are the three latest additions to my handmade wardrobe and a new go-to pattern added to the collection… First up is View A, the classic tee.   The …

October Blog Traffic and a Papercut Patterns Sway Dress

October! A beautiful time of year! First, please tell me how it is October already. Seriously. Second, well… I don’t really have a second. Other than I’ve been missing this space lately, and wanted to come stop by and write down a few thoughts. And to welcome any newcomers to this little corner of the internet. Except I like to think of it not as a corner… more like an open room with lots of big windows and beautiful natural light. Anyway, October is the time of year when my blog gets a lot of new traffic. It’s weird, and I guess sort of flattering at the same time. I don’t have many tutorials on here, but what I do have is mostly revolved around Halloween (yay!). So if you’re here because you clicked on a link for costume belts or dwarf slippers on Pinterest… welcome, and thanks for stopping by! :D Here’s my quick intro – my name is Kyla. Pharmacist by day, aspiring seamstress and dog wrangler by night. :) Recently engaged, currently planning the …

Catching Up… Maui Wedding Makes!

Let’s not talk about when I actually made these… ;) Let’s just jump right in… First up… TEAM BRIDE Shirts! The bride helped me with these ones… I broke out my Cricut for the first time in a LONG time (I’ve only used it a couple of times – here and here – but when I need it, it definitely comes in handy!!!). I cut and she ironed :) We ALMOST ran out of the vinyl, so we had to get creative with the cutting on the last couple, but we ended up having just enough!   The shirts are from here, and we used glitter vinyl that I’ve had sitting around for a couple of years. I can’t even remember what I originally bought it for :/ All of the shirts were mint except for the bride’s which of course was white and just said Bride. I originally had thought about buying them… but this way was so much better! Not to mention quicker and cheaper! See them in full bridal force here. :) Next up, the Hey June …

Catching Up… July Makes!

Alright, I realize it’s almost the end of August, but for the sake of record keeping :) here’s a quick rundown of my makes from July! There were two. They were both easy, and super comfy – as any summer makes should be, right!? First up, the Santa Fe Top from Hey June! The pattern itself is great, as with all of hers (hence the hashtag!). I made view E in my usual size S, no alterations.   My star and stripe fabrics were from Girl Charlee, and the grey jersey is from Felinus Fabrics (purchased July 2015… yay for a little stashbusting! …well, if that’s what you call it when you buy a yard each of stars and stripes and barely use any, then use less than a yard of the jersey from your stash). :)   I didn’t have a good grey color thread at the time so I went for red and blue. Sometimes you want things to look RTW… sometimes you just have to go for things that you would never find in RTW. Like …
