Salme Vegas Blazer

I downloaded the Salme Cropped Blazer pattern back in June when I made my Minna blouse but didn’t get around to making it till now. The Monthly Stitch outerwear challenge this month was the perfect motivation :) And it was good timing… it was something fun to wear in Vegas! We went for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon this past weekend and had sooo much fun (even though we were sore and hobbling around half the time we were there)!

Marc Jacobs Gray White Herringbone Stretch Wool Suiting

I found this stretch herringbone suiting fabric when it was on sale at Mood. It reminded me of this one, although there was no way I was going to attempt a lining like she did. :) I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who had trouble with the mitered corners. I absolutely did mine incorrectly… lol I also did the shoulders incorrectly, but I was having one of those moments. I realized I was just not going to understand the directions no matter how many times I read them over so I just did what worked. I like the style of the Salme patterns, but as a beginner I wish they had just a tad more instruction. Overall though, I think it worked out well enough.

Yes, awkward. What am I looking at!? Who knows… And don’t mind the tag on my pants; lol I was trying on my latest Stitch Fix at the same time :) I wore the blazer in Vegas a couple of times, but didn’t get a chance to get a good photo. All I got was that top photo and this one:

Here are a few others from the weekend:

Isn’t that necklace adorable!? My cousin got them for all of us girls. And Danny was our cheering section :) I’m trying to convince him to sign up for the next one.

That (above) was a cosmo at the Cosmo! Mmm… and was it delicious oh yes it was! :)

My time was definitely not the greatest :/ This was my third half-marathon… these are my times so far: 2:58 (12/2/2012), 2:33 (08/21/2013), and 3:10 (11/16/2014). But at least we finished! :) Maybe I can schedule in one more before my birthday and reach my 30 before 30 goal of improving my time! Or maybe not. lol

Happy Friday!

Until next time,

  2. Great blazer! I love Salme designs but even though I have a few of their patterns, I have yet to make anything because I never get around to adding the seam allowance after printing them out :/ This looks great, a brilliant first shot at outerwear!

    • Thank you! Yea, this is the second Salme pattern I’ve used and so far I’ve just faked it on adding the seam allowance. I’m sure there’s a proper way to do it, but I have yet to figure that out :)
