Winter Handmade Gift Exchange & Sunday Sew Love: 7 December

For today’s Blogmas14 post (topic: DIY Christmas Present), here is my DIY contribution to the Winter Handmade Gift Exchange from Craftaholics Anonymous. The package totally looked like that (above… so pretty, right!?) on my way to the post office. You would think having just moved I would’ve had a million and a half boxes sitting around to use for mailing, but we did a fantastic job of piling all of our boxes into the trailer and having my dad haul them off! So anywhoo… I got to the post office with no box – it ALMOST fit in the small size priority box… I mean it was so close! Ugh. So I resorted to tossing the bow to make it fit… and it still didn’t fit! At that point I frustratingly stuffed the sad little bow-less box into a big envelope. Thinking back, the bow probably would have fit in the envelope. Hmm… next time :) Either way, that’s what it was supposed to look like :)   Find more DIY Christmas Presents at the …

Winter Fashion – Stitch Fix Style

Hello Hello! So, normally I only get my fixes once a month but for some reason, they scheduled this one only 2 weeks after my last fix. I could have gone in and changed it, but decided to go ahead with it. Plus it turned out to be perfect timing for this post, so all is well in the end :) I mean, let’s face it… I really don’t have fashion sense much less any fashion advice to share. Other than sharing my sewing creations, Stitch Fix is about fashion-y as it gets around here! So here’s what I got in my latest box: I was very mixed about this box. It was a close call between keeping everything and keeping nothing. :/ And sorry, no try-ons this time around. I love Stitch Fix reviews that show how the clothes fit, but it just didn’t happen today. Look by M Prescott Solid Fringe Detail Wrap Scarf | $32 | Status: Sent back Super soft, big, and comfy! Although the color is really nice (a light …

Favorite Holiday Memory

Note: This photo has absolutely nothing to do with this post; I just like it :) It was taken while on a walk in Cheyenne in 2012. So, my favorite holiday memory! I tried to track down photos to entertain you embarrass myself with, but apparently we only have videos… on VHS, of course. Aww… too bad ;) I have no idea how this tradition started, but every year growing up we would have Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve dinner at my Grandma’s house with all of the aunts, uncles, and cousins. On Thanksgiving, following dinner, while the adults cleaned up ;) we would sit down with paper and a pen and write a script for a Christmas play. There were 5 of us cousins; I say ‘we’ wrote the play, but technically  my sister and one of my cousins did most of the writing. I just remember playing under the stairs while throwing out an idea here and there. Between Thanksgiving and Christmas, we would finish the script, practice our lines, and prepare for the big …

DIY Holiday Gift Guide: FOR HIM

I think I may have had too much fun with this one. It’s a bit of a bacon overload. But what guy doesn’t love bacon? Okay, what girl doesn’t love bacon? Other than you awesome veggie people (I’m still trying to be more of one… it’s just so hard when there’s so much bacon around)! 1 | Sewn Tie | I made a tie for my dad this year for Father’s Day from a different pattern, but this tutorial looks pretty nice and simple. 2 | DIY Gourmet Bacon | Because why not?! 3 | Star Trek Pot Holders | I made one of these for a wedding gift a year and a half or so ago but never finished it… it’s sitting in my closet almost done. Maybe I should get on that… but really; who am I kidding? More likely we’re looking at a 5-year anniversary present. :/ 4 | Cornhole Boards | I love the design on these ones; it would also be fun to personalize with a favorite sports team, etc. 5 …

DIY Holiday Gift Guide: FOR HER

In case you’re wanting to go the DIY route this holiday season… here are a few ideas to get you started! (or maybe you’ve already started… in which case you are much more on top of things than I am) :/ 1 | Chalkboard paint wine glasses | Wine gifts are always a win in my book. And this one looks super easy; wrap it up with some chalk and you’re all set :) 2 | Tile coasters | These are also cute when made with photos, fabric, etc. Apparently you can make just about anything into a coaster… all you need is a little mod podge! 3 | Nook cover | Or kindle, iPhone, laptop, camera, etc. etc… 4 | Scarf camera strap | So beautiful! I really need to try to make myself one of these. Or… I mean… make one for a gift. Yep, that’s definitely what I meant ;) 5 | Champagne Glass Tassels | Another fun way to remember which glass is yours… instead you just have to remember what color tassel is yours …
