KnitFix! + Aztec Matilda Leggings

Happy day after Christmas! I get to celebrate again tomorrow when we have our extended family get-together. I love this time of year so much! You also know how much I love Stitch Fix! Well, when Girl Charlee came out with KnitFix… naturally, I had to give it a try :) Not that I need more fabric… but we won’t talk about that right now… ;) So you get a cute little tote bag with 6 mystery fabrics, 2 yards each. Here’s what I got in December’s KnitFix: I’ve been eyeing all of the cute printed leggings out there, and I’ve been psyching myself up to start my Ginger Jeans (my pattern is ready, my fabric is ready… I’m just not mentally ready)… :/ so I figured I’d start with some super simple pants – leggings! I used the black/gray/white aztec print fabric from my KnitFix and the Matilda Leggings pattern from Spit Up & Stilettos. I really love this pattern! I cut between the small and medium size. I wanted them to be full …

Sunday Sew Love: 21 December & A Green Smoothie Goal

It is Sunday, right? Ah, I’m so excited to get back to work. It’s been fun, but those bills are not going to start paying themselves :/ So today’s blogmas prompt is a healthy holiday treat… which is good timing because I need to start thinking about healthy, well, anything. I’ve not been eating very well lately partially because I’ve been sick for the past week, but partially because I just need to get back in the habit of cooking for myself. I always say it’s hard cooking for two people. It is, but that’s no excuse not to do it, right!? Plus I work in healthcare… I should be setting the example! Seriously. No excuses. So anyway, my dad (the one with the awesome garden!) makes amazing green smoothies. He has a green smoothie every day for breakfast and always offers them to anyone who comes by. lol I even had one delivered to me the other day when I was feeling terrible (perks of living close to your parents, I guess). :) So …

Christmas Card Reveal!

Oooo fun day. I’m so excited about our cards this year! Here’s the close up: Ahhh… I just can’t get enough of those sweet faces. Seeing that last year didn’t go very well trying to get their photos, this year I kept them inside, separated them, and gave out lots of treats during the process :) Here are a few outtakes: As long as there’s good lighting, Finn is actually pretty easy to get a good picture of – and of course as long as he will slow down for a minute :/ Zoe always puts on her serious face when I have the camera out, but luckily she broke down and gave me a nice smile :) Then she got bored and walked away… so we were done. lol Oh and right now as I write this I can hear Finn snoring from the living room. You’d think he was an old man. I love my little furry old man. :) Another awesome tool I’ve found is lone squeakers. I ordered these ones to make …

Free PDF Adopt Me Vest Sewing Pattern! +My Favorite Non-Profit Orgs

First things first! I created a PDF sewing pattern! This one has been a long time coming. And by that I mean I’ve been lazy and didn’t get around to making it until I was asked by BDAR a few weeks ago for input on making adopt me vests. I’ve made them a few batches of vests in the past, but of course they get lost or worn out over time, so they were looking to make some more. Actually, they are thinking of having a fabric drive and sewing party to make adopt me vests! Is that not the best idea ever!? It’s like an old-school LAN party… but with sewing machines instead of computers! And all for a good cause. Love it! So anywhoo… I finally got around to putting this together. The pattern is free, of course, but if you use it or find any benefit to it, please consider donating any amount to Black Dog Animal Rescue, the org the pattern was created for, or any local animal rescue of your …
