Rental Property: BEFORE

HGTV is one of my favorite channels. It’s really one of the main reasons I wanted to keep our cable even though the price went up and we rarely, rarely watch anything on TV :/ (I’m all about Netflix!). I love a good home makeover show… my favorites are Property Brothers and Income Property… so needless to say I was super excited for my parents when they said they were purchasing a fixer-upper to turn into a rental property. Even if I wasn’t involved directly, I was excited to see their progress – and the before and after. Well as soon as I figured out I would be getting out of the military and had an opportunity to move and work back home, I naturally signed us up to live in their rental. :) So now I’m even more excited because I get to see everything first-hand. And so I’ll share :) Here are a few before pictures:          So they’ve been working tirelessly and I’ve been watching from afar as my mom …

Sunday Sew Love: 7 September

(top/left) no time to sew Summer Wardrobe Staples | (top/right) Thread Theory Kimono (bottom/left) Two Random Words Jenna Cardi | (bottom/right) The Felted Fox DIY Pleated Skirt Basics on the left… not-so-basics on the right! I love all of these! I really need to get my sewing mojo back! :) Actually, I need to get my selfish sewing mojo back… I’ve been sewing, I just can’t share any of it yet ;) Oh, and check it out… had big plans last month for the TMS Let Them Sew Cake Challenge… planned to make this and this. But after I spent two evenings taping my pattern together… some puppy that I know (Finn!) thought it would be fun to do this: Yes. He ate it. After that, I lost my motivation. He also munched through one of my fun vintage patterns from my grandma :( Anyone else have this problem!? :/ Oh, pups! Luckily, all of my patterns are now out of his reach! Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend! Until next time,

A Puppy Box for Pattern Storage

Up till now, I had my sewing patterns in drawers, under the guest bed, and random pieces falling all over the place. Decided to do some consolidating today and use some of the fabric Danny got me for Christmas to make a storage box. I made this one the same way I made the last one, just bigger. Yay! Finally organized! :) And recycled a cardboard box… win, win. Until next time,

Farewell, Summer.

Are we sure Summer didn’t just start?! I’ve been working on clearing photos off my phone (it took me nearly 2 1/2 years, but I finally filled up my phone’s memory enough that it stopped working)… here are a few from my last Summer in Cheyenne: Sunbathing and lazy-bum pups galore: The view of Cheyenne from a long run: A random funny moment at the clinic: My last Frontier Days: A giant Thanksgiving dinner in August: My best bowling score to date (and yes, apparently it was my alter ego Kylie who got the score, not me): My first traditional Shave Ice: Hello, Fall (a.k.a. Winter… we are in Wyoming, after all! I’m just hoping the snow holds off a little bit longer than last year…)! I can already feel the holiday season coming! :) Until next time,

A Weekend Away: Boulder, Colorado

Home to a multitude of microbreweries, the original purpose of this trip to Boulder was to take a biking brewery tour (which is part of my 30 before 30 list)! Turns out the biking portion was just not meant to be, but we still had an awesome time on our little escape from reality. On the way into Boulder, we stopped for the obligatory tour of the Celestial Seasonings tea factory. Right after you sign up for the tour, they give you a cup to start sampling while you wait. It was so busy… but I’m glad we waited! The mint room was my favorite… talk about sensory overload! :) Danny felt nauseous a couple of times throughout the tour; said the smells were too much, but I thought it was all pretty awesome. They were right in the middle of processing a big batch of Sleepytime, one of my favorites. I also found it interesting that their 3 top selling teas don’t actually contain any tea (Chamomile, Mint, and Sleepytime)! Our hotel wasn’t anything super …
