Sunday Sew Love: 4 January

First up… new year, new look for the blog! What do you think? I’m still working on it, but I love how simple and organized it is. And the home page lets me play around a bunch with formatting without getting into coding, which is wonderful because as much as I’d love to learn it, it’s definitely not on my priority list :) Also, here’s my lifebyky.com Bloglovin page if you’d like to follow along (I’d love to have you!): Follow my blog with Bloglovin I didn’t realize back when I switched over from the worpress page that it made a new page on Bloglovin. They both get the updates, though, so I suppose it doesn’t matter too much. So here we are… new year, new makes! I love these tops, and I really couldn’t get enough of Horatio the stuffed horse. Pretty sure I would have gone ca-raaazy over that as a kid! Sunday Sew Love: 21 December & A Green Smoothie Goal

It is Sunday, right? Ah, I’m so excited to get back to work. It’s been fun, but those bills are not going to start paying themselves :/ So today’s blogmas prompt is a healthy holiday treat… which is good timing because I need to start thinking about healthy, well, anything. I’ve not been eating very well lately partially because I’ve been sick for the past week, but partially because I just need to get back in the habit of cooking for myself. I always say it’s hard cooking for two people. It is, but that’s no excuse not to do it, right!? Plus I work in healthcare… I should be setting the example! Seriously. No excuses. So anyway, my dad (the one with the awesome garden!) makes amazing green smoothies. He has a green smoothie every day for breakfast and always offers them to anyone who comes by. lol I even had one delivered to me the other day when I was feeling terrible (perks of living close to your parents, I guess). :) So …

Blogmas Catch-up & Sunday Sew Love: 14 December

Eeek… what happened? I missed two days of Blogmas! :) Ooops. Well, day 12 was “Winter Activity” during which time Danny and I were out galavanting in San Fran in the rain… so I’ll consider that our winter activity :) Speaking of, it was really sad; we stayed in Union Square thinking there would be some awesome Christmas lights and such, and the power was out from the storm :( I didn’t even take one picture while we were there. Oh well; next time! Here are a few pictures from our county during the storm (stolen from Facebook… it didn’t get bad at our house):   Other wonderful winter activities I’ve been participating in include: watching movies snuggled up by the Christmas Tree (finally watched Shawshank Redemption – I’d never seen it – amazing movie! And I’m taking that as one more mark on the 30 before 30 list!) :), online shopping (I know it’s Christmas and all but still I think I have a problem… lol), baking, sewing, wrapping presents, and going to the …

Winter Handmade Gift Exchange & Sunday Sew Love: 7 December

For today’s Blogmas14 post (topic: DIY Christmas Present), here is my DIY contribution to the Winter Handmade Gift Exchange from Craftaholics Anonymous. The package totally looked like that (above… so pretty, right!?) on my way to the post office. You would think having just moved I would’ve had a million and a half boxes sitting around to use for mailing, but we did a fantastic job of piling all of our boxes into the trailer and having my dad haul them off! So anywhoo… I got to the post office with no box – it ALMOST fit in the small size priority box… I mean it was so close! Ugh. So I resorted to tossing the bow to make it fit… and it still didn’t fit! At that point I frustratingly stuffed the sad little bow-less box into a big envelope. Thinking back, the bow probably would have fit in the envelope. Hmm… next time :) Either way, that’s what it was supposed to look like :)   Find more DIY Christmas Presents at the …
