Christmas Wishlist

Yes, when it comes to Christmas, I am still a child :) Danny and my mom both ask for lists around Christmastime but to be fair, they do an awesome job on their own, too. Either way, I still have fun coming up with plenty of ideas for them. I like to be surprised, after all, so I figure if they have plenty of choices, I’ll still be surprised… right?! :) 1 | Love at First Stitch by Tilly Walnes | Tilly is so full of inspiration! 2 | Chess board | Shouldn’t everyone learn how to play chess at some point in their life? 3 | Lords of Waterdeep Game | Love this game. And now that we’ve moved across the country from our friend who had it… here it is :) 4 | Misfit Shine | Okay, this one isn’t really fair… I already know I’m getting it. :) But I’m super excited about it! My best friend got me this for my B-Day/Christmas (yes, my b-day was 6 months ago… but I’m …

Cooookies

Yes, I’m feeling a bit cookie monster-ish today. Or maybe it’s just the significant sugar high I have going right now. :/ So without further ado, since I have a crazy sweet tooth and can’t possibly choose a favorite… here’s Danny’s favorite Christmas cookie recipe! Butternut balls! I’ve also heard them called snowball cookies or wedding cookies. 1 cup margarine, softened 1/2 cup sifted powdered sugar (doesn’t have to be sifted) 1/2 teaspoon salt 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 2 cups all purpose flour 1 cup finely chopped nuts (we use pecans) Powdered sugar Cream margarine and sugar until light and fluffy. Add salt, vanilla, and flour, mixing well. Stir in pecans. Shape dough into balls, and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 for 10-12 minutes or until very lightly browned. Roll each in powdered sugar while warm. Yield: 3 dozen balls. Super easy! Haha… I say that, but all I did was watch Danny make them! :) He has made 3 batches already. He made the first batch yesterday while I was making peanut …

What Christmas Means To Me

Christmas means… Family. What better excuse is there than Christmas to be around family??… or friends that I’ve adopted as family :) At least for me, Christmas is one of the few times I don’t let myself feel guilty at all if we just sit around and do absolutely nothing. Just being together and enjoying each others’ company is what it’s all about! Christmas means… Giving. Whether it’s time, money, or anything in between. I love wrapping presents so one of my favorite things in the past has been to find a local organization that is either wrapping presents that have been collected for kids or that is wrapping as a fundraiser. Also angel trees… those are always fun! One of my former co-workers would let each of her kids pick out a kid from the angel tree their same age and go shopping for them. I always thought that was such a great idea; and a fun family outing. Also of course giving to those I know. Some people are difficult to shop (or …

Christmas Tree!!!

I love everything about Christmas trees!! They can be fake or real, doesn’t really matter to me :) Ours comes out of a box. This will be it’s 4th year and I still love it! Last year, one of the strings of lights went out so yesterday I finally got around to re-stringing it. Turns out I was too lazy to fix the lights… I’ll hang onto those ones; maybe later. ;) As far as decorating goes, it’s almost the same as last year – nothing extravagant, and no theme. I love using the same ornaments and slowly building up over the years. This year, there are quite a few more because I retrieved a box of them that has been stored at my parents house. But we haven’t found our 2014 ornament yet. Soon! I wish we had a fireplace to hang up the stockings… one day :) Until then, this works just fine! Winter Handmade Gift Exchange & Sunday Sew Love: 7 December

For today’s Blogmas14 post (topic: DIY Christmas Present), here is my DIY contribution to the Winter Handmade Gift Exchange from Craftaholics Anonymous. The package totally looked like that (above… so pretty, right!?) on my way to the post office. You would think having just moved I would’ve had a million and a half boxes sitting around to use for mailing, but we did a fantastic job of piling all of our boxes into the trailer and having my dad haul them off! So anywhoo… I got to the post office with no box – it ALMOST fit in the small size priority box… I mean it was so close! Ugh. So I resorted to tossing the bow to make it fit… and it still didn’t fit! At that point I frustratingly stuffed the sad little bow-less box into a big envelope. Thinking back, the bow probably would have fit in the envelope. Hmm… next time :) Either way, that’s what it was supposed to look like :)   Find more DIY Christmas Presents at the …
