Stitch Fix #8 – January

I actually got this fix back at the beginning of January but just got around to taking pictures. I wasn’t worried about taking them right away because SPOILER ALERT! I kept everything! :) Henry & Belle Billy Skinny Jean | $148 ($112) | Status: Kept! Super comfy! I cringed when I cut the tags off – they are definitely the most expensive jeans I’ve ever owned – but I couldn’t help it. I actually requested a long pair of dark skinny jeans and my stylist sent me the perfect ones! I couldn’t let them out of my life. :) I’m wearing them in the pictures below. Tart Leighton Boat Neck Knit Shirt | $58 ($44.50) | Status: Kept! I really like this one. It’s a simple, casual, medium-weight knit. A good wardrobe staple. Fun2Fun Colibri Plaid Tab-Sleeve Cotton Shirt | $48 ($37) | Status: Kept! I really wanted to rant and rave about this shirt. I love the style and the colors and it was a perfect grown-up replacement of a shirt I already had in …

JANUARY

Reading | Last year I only read seven books all year. This year I’d love that number to be closer to twelve. I obviously don’t read as much as I would like to, but I’ve recently found a little time during lunch at work. Finished Seven Up (always lighthearted fun with Stephanie Plum); started A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian.   Watching | Netflix, of course! We recently finished Season 9 of Criminal Minds. That show is so addicting! Also Season 8 of Psych. Currently watching Season 4 of Being Human (US version); it’s just getting crazier and crazier. I tried to watch the second season of Hemlock Grove but I barely made it through the first episode. Maybe that show is just too much for me; maybe I’ll try again later. Yes, I rarely watch cable but still watch way too much TV :/    Sewing | I only finished one project this month, but I just cut fabric for 3 more, so hopefully I get those going soon. In the process of rearranging our office, …

Cream of Wheat: Sweet or Salty?

Danny really doesn’t like oatmeal. He says it’s a texture thing. Unfortunately, I can’t imagine not having oatmeal in my life (I mean… come on! It’s so healthy and delicious… am I right?!). I tried buying some steel cut oats thinking maybe that would help with the texture issue. He will eat it, but he’s still not a big fan. So cream of wheat is a nice sort-of substitute for us. I know, it’s not the same, but equally delicious. As long as it’s not instant. That stuff is weird. Back in our beginning days, Danny was sweet one morning and made us some cream of wheat for breakfast. I took one bite and wasn’t sure what I had just put in my mouth. I made a face. He looked at me funny. It was salty! I’m sure I said something along the lines of “Who in their right mind puts salt in their cream of wheat!?” and/or “What did you accidentally put in this cream of wheat?!” but then I soon learned that he meant to …

Sunday Sew Love: 25 January + Hiking!

Happy Happy Sunday! Here are a few beautiful makes for a beautiful day. Sonja – a hedgehog!? Oh my goodness, so adorable :) Also the puppy pajamas… seriously!? This week was full of cuteness overload. I’m pretty sure Danny, me, and the pups need matching PJs next year for the holidays. Too much? We shall see… :) (top/left) Ginger Makes Hedgehog Quilt | (right) Nicole at Home Camas Blouse (bottom/left) What Would Nancy Drew Wear?
