A to Z Brand Inspiration Self-Paced Sewing Challenge!!!

Join me in the fun! If you’ve been following along at all, you know I’ve been (very slowly) working my way through the alphabet sewing copycat/inspired versions of RTW clothes.  SO, I figured just in case anyone would like to join in… I’d give you a little push to do so. :) Here are a few details: Join in whenever you want and go at your own pace. Basically, do what you want, when you want. This is just a form of inspiration. Sew in between other projects, make your other projects fit in with the challenge, whatever you want to do! Use any pattern. Adjust it to fit the piece you are making. This is where you can really challenge yourself. Choose pieces with interesting  details that require a little imagination. Or don’t. Again, do what you want! :D The only rule: Go in order of the alphabet! Pick a brand/store/designer/etc… go any direction you want, just match it up with the letter you’re on. That’s it! :D Oh, and of course share your creations!! Join …

Introducing Charlotte & The Foxglove Duo!

Doesn’t it sound like it could be a band!? :) Charlotte and the Foxglove Duo… LIVE at the Apollo! So today was very exciting. I was finishing up my Foxglove tanks this morning and guess what the post man dropped off!??! :D Meet Charlotte. She is my slightly early birthday gift from Danny and I love her already! She is the Dritz Twin Fit adjustable dress form, size small. She got her name right out of the box. I said ‘ooo what should I name her’ and Danny said ‘you should name her Charlotte’. Aaaand DONE! Don’t ask me where he comes up with this stuff. But I think it’s perfect. It’s such a nice name. Like Charlotte York or Charlotte, North Carolina (a place I’ve never been, but in my head it’s very beautiful). So I thought it only fitting to have Charlotte help me take photos of my Foxglove tanks! I wanted to make a few of these anyway, so it was good timing for the TMS Indie Pattern Month One Pattern Two …

Syrah Skirt, Plantain Tee, Plantain Tank, So Zo Undies, & Puppy PJ Pants!

Alright! So if you saw my post on The Monthly Stitch yesterday, this is mostly the same… but I ended up eeking out two more projects from my piece of pink cotton rib knit while I had it out so here’s everything in one place :) Aaand my title kinda gave it all away…  so do what you will with this post lol In case you missed my post over there, this was my new-to-me outfit for Indie Pattern Month :) It was my first time using a pattern from both of these designers and I’m really happy with how they turned out. DEER & DOE PLANTAIN TEE This tee is everywhere and I finally understand why! I’ve had the pattern downloaded for a while but haven’t gotten around to making it till now. The RTW white tee I have in my closet right now is looking pretty old and sad so I desperately needed a replacement :)… this one fit the bill perfectly! The fabric is a cotton spandex blend knit from Girl Charlee. Same one I used …

E is for Express Aztec Zip Back Peplum Tank

My sewing room is a disaster right now — it’s full of laundry that’s been waiting patiently to be folded since before I went to Chicago :/ Unfortunately, because of that, I haven’t been very motivated to get in there and start a new project. Maybe I just need to get motivated and get in there to fold the laundry lol… SOOO anyway, here I am catching up from May :) Express was an easy choice for E… I love a lot of their stuff. I actually picked this one out a while ago (it’s not even on their site anymore)… but I finally got to it last month and finished it so that’s all that matters, right? ;) Inspiration: Express — Aztec Zip Back Peplum Tank (now out of stock) Theirs: $34.90 Mine: $6.07 (pattern + fabric + zipper) I used McCall’s M6754, view A. Modifications: sized down (based on other reviews I’ve seen of this pattern and I’m glad I did), added an exposed zipper in the back, added a lining to the bodice so …

May KnitFix & A Union St. Tee Hack

I go back and forth between picking a pattern to match my fabric and picking fabric to match my pattern. I usually go with the latter, but sometimes it’s fun to have the fabric first and find a pattern that fits. That brings us to KnitFix! I got one back in December and told myself I could get another one once I’d used all the different fabrics (it comes with 6 surprise 2-yard knit cuts and it’s a really fun way to try new knits that you wouldn’t necessarily pick out yourself… kinda like Stitch Fix for sewing!). Well, it’s been 6 months… and I still have two that I haven’t used from that December fix so I finally gave in and got a second one. :) And to be fair, I do have plans for the last two… I just need to execute them :) So here’s what I got! No idea what to do with the weird pink & brown print one. The card says it’s a floral, but I’m not really sure …
