I go back and forth between picking a pattern to match my fabric and picking fabric to match my pattern. I usually go with the latter, but sometimes it’s fun to have the fabric first and find a pattern that fits.
That brings us to KnitFix! I got one back in December and told myself I could get another one once I’d used all the different fabrics (it comes with 6 surprise 2-yard knit cuts and it’s a really fun way to try new knits that you wouldn’t necessarily pick out yourself… kinda like Stitch Fix for sewing!). Well, it’s been 6 months… and I still have two that I haven’t used from that December fix so I finally gave in and got a second one. :) And to be fair, I do have plans for the last two… I just need to execute them :) So here’s what I got!
No idea what to do with the weird pink & brown print one. The card says it’s a floral, but I’m not really sure that’s what I’d call it lol The rest, though, I love.
So anyway, I immediately thought of this pin when I saw the red stripe fabric so naturally I had to recreate it right away. Here’s what I came up with:
I used the scoop neck Union St. Tee pattern for the top… I chopped the pattern at the waist and added a ruffle/peplum piece from there.
I have to say, though… my first go around, my pattern matching was perfect. Ugh, I miss that pattern matching. But when I tried it on it was like a bag… way too big! So I took it in on the sides and totally messed up my stripes :/
The back is also a little wonky… not sure what happened there… but overall I love it! It’s so comfy and fun.
(worn here with my Ginger Jeans)
So… any ideas for what I should do with the rest of my KnitFix??
Oh and BTW, have you seen the latest pattern from Hey June… the Biscayne Blouse… very cute!
Until next time,
Oh, I’m really jealous of you getting this parcel, do they send to any country? Love what you’ve done with the striped material. I must be honest the ‘floral’ one you mentioned was the only one I didn’t like the look of… Could it make a nice sarong, or beach throw over top maybe?

I’m not sure where all they ship to… it’d be worth a look though :) I’ve seen a few cute things made from the ‘floral’ one but I’m still not sure it’s going to make it into my closet lol Maybe something for the beach, like you said :)

Super cute! I thought about buying a knit fix, but decided against it, since its a lot money for just 6 fabris and I don’t even know if I’ll like the fabric…but the fabric you got is super cute and the top looks fab!
