Bring It On, 2015!

PiYo + Insanity + Chalean Extreme + POP Pilates + Planks Here’s my attempt at not getting bored in my workouts this year. If you are also a collector of unfinished Beachbody workout programs, please feel free to join me! :) I’m not buying any more workout programs this year… and I’m not joining the gym that steals all of my money when I don’t show up. Nope. Not happening! :) Hopefully I’ll be throwing in some running, too. We shall see… I included a 30-day plank challenge for January because, well, I have no core. It was taken from HERE (adjusted slightly to fit the schedule). And all of the POP Pilates workouts can be found HERE (I incorporated days 1-6 and 8 of her beginner’s calendar, in order). I’m off to start this beautiful year off right with INSANITY! :) Wishing you the best of luck in the new year, no matter what your goals/resolutions/wishes/dreams are! Bring it on, 2015! I’m pretty sure you are going to be awesome! Until next time,

The week I started PiYo over… twice…

I said I would do PiYo. I never said how long it would take me or how many times I would have to try before I succeed ;) I joined a challenge group because I thought it would be motivating. It was motivating… but maybe I just wasn’t mentally ready… or maybe it’s the 10-13 hour workdays finally weighing down on me… or maybe I’m just lazy lol I don’t know. I just know that I’m going to keep trying… keep starting over until it sticks. I’ll keep you posted on my progress, though. I’m convinced I’m going to finish the whole thing (plus, it’s on my 30 before 30 list… which means I have to do it, right!?). Either way, even if I keep starting over, at least I’m still getting the workouts in! The only problem I have with it so far is how hard they push Shakeology. I get it – healthiest shake in the world. But I’m still not on board with the whole ‘you have to drink this or you’re never going to …

PiYo Week 2 Recap & CFD Clean-Up

Under normal circumstances, I really am a fairly healthy eater. Not super healthy all the time for sure, but not too bad. BUT, for some reason whenever I attempt to follow a food plan of any kind (for instance the PiYo food plan…) all of a sudden my brain says to me, “don’t you tell me what to eat… bring on the brownies for dinner!” :/ So we won’t get into how my food plan has been going. Tomorrow is always a new day :) Side note: you must try this recipe for White Chicken Chili… it’s amazing, and I’m pretty sure at least semi-healthy. I made it last week, not this week… again… not talking about what I ate this week. :/ Also missed two of my PiYo workouts this week… and didn’t run at all. :/ So maybe not the best week ever… but I did get my replacement disc so I was able to do the Upper Body workout. AND… I cleaned up the stands at Frontier Days three days this week. Sunday was …

PiYo Week 1 Recap

So remember last week how I made myself a nice pretty schedule in hopes that my DVDs would show up Saturday!? Well of course they did show up, but too late in the day to do anything. So, because I’d already finished my run for the day, I kept that one on the calendar, but adjusted the days and the rest of the run schedule. I wanted to keep my long runs on Saturdays, so I have time to recover on Sundays. But, in the midst of adjusting the run days, I came across this article that talks about only training 3 days per week for a half. Again considering the last two half marathons I completed I hadn’t trained at all, I decided this 3-days per week plan may be a little smarter. Plus I admit freely… even though I love running, it’s probably been well over a year since I’ve run regularly. With this plan, they recommend one long run, one tempo run, and one speedwork run per week, plus cross training. Completely …

PiYo Pre-Challenge

I like going to the gym. But I love Beachbody and similar workout programs. If I can save 30 minutes of driving/changing at the gym/etc. while getting just as awesome of a workout (or better!) at home, I’m all for it. Plus, after a while you get attached to the people in the videos which makes it even more fun (…or is that just me!?). Well, problem is… I still have trouble getting myself to do the videos sometimes. I go through phases… active/motivated phases and slumps :/ Because of that, Danny calls me a collector. A collector of workout videos and programs :) I get motivated… get a new program… then slump… and the trend continues! Currently in my possession I have the following, plus a few other randoms: Chalean Extreme Yoga Booty Ballet Live (now it seems they call it Yoga Booty Ballet Ab&Butt makeover) Pure Barre Insanity Peak Fit System Those are listed from my most to least favorite… although Yoga Booty Ballet and Pure Barre  probably tie for second. I like …
