Favorite Holiday Memory

Note: This photo has absolutely nothing to do with this post; I just like it :) It was taken while on a walk in Cheyenne in 2012. So, my favorite holiday memory! I tried to track down photos to entertain you embarrass myself with, but apparently we only have videos… on VHS, of course. Aww… too bad ;) I have no idea how this tradition started, but every year growing up we would have Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve dinner at my Grandma’s house with all of the aunts, uncles, and cousins. On Thanksgiving, following dinner, while the adults cleaned up ;) we would sit down with paper and a pen and write a script for a Christmas play. There were 5 of us cousins; I say ‘we’ wrote the play, but technically  my sister and one of my cousins did most of the writing. I just remember playing under the stairs while throwing out an idea here and there. Between Thanksgiving and Christmas, we would finish the script, practice our lines, and prepare for the big …

DIY Holiday Gift Guide: FOR HIM

I think I may have had too much fun with this one. It’s a bit of a bacon overload. But what guy doesn’t love bacon? Okay, what girl doesn’t love bacon? Other than you awesome veggie people (I’m still trying to be more of one… it’s just so hard when there’s so much bacon around)! 1 | Sewn Tie | I made a tie for my dad this year for Father’s Day from a different pattern, but this tutorial looks pretty nice and simple. 2 | DIY Gourmet Bacon | Because why not?! 3 | Star Trek Pot Holders | I made one of these for a wedding gift a year and a half or so ago but never finished it… it’s sitting in my closet almost done. Maybe I should get on that… but really; who am I kidding? More likely we’re looking at a 5-year anniversary present. :/ 4 | Cornhole Boards | I love the design on these ones; it would also be fun to personalize with a favorite sports team, etc. 5 …

DIY Holiday Gift Guide: FOR HER

In case you’re wanting to go the DIY route this holiday season… here are a few ideas to get you started! (or maybe you’ve already started… in which case you are much more on top of things than I am) :/ 1 | Chalkboard paint wine glasses | Wine gifts are always a win in my book. And this one looks super easy; wrap it up with some chalk and you’re all set :) 2 | Tile coasters | These are also cute when made with photos, fabric, etc. Apparently you can make just about anything into a coaster… all you need is a little mod podge! 3 | Nook cover | Or kindle, iPhone, laptop, camera, etc. etc… 4 | Scarf camera strap | So beautiful! I really need to try to make myself one of these. Or… I mean… make one for a gift. Yep, that’s definitely what I meant ;) 5 | Champagne Glass Tassels | Another fun way to remember which glass is yours… instead you just have to remember what color tassel is yours …

Favorite Christmas Card: Blogmas14 Day 2

Okay so I really wanted to make if over to my parents house to find some old Christmas photos for this post, but I didn’t get that far. I’ll save those gems for later ;) haha so here’s my favorite Christmas card. It’s actually from last year. It was the first card Danny and I sent out together and if I do say so myself I think it turned out pretty adorable. If you’re new here… you may notice I’m a little pup-obsessed (just a smidge) ;). These are my little fur babies (if you’re bored and halfway interested, read their adoption stories here). So anyway, we tried to do a little Christmas photo shoot in the snow for our card last year. You can see how well that turned out. That top right photo… that was the best photo we got of Finn. Here it is bigger: Tongue out… pulling on his leash… this is typical everyday Finn. I love that crazy pup so much! And for Zoe’s picture… Danny was taking pictures trying …

A Letter to Santa

Okay, okay here I go… joining in for the 25 Days of Christmas, in all of its blogging glory! This is the most amazing time of year, after all. Why not join in on the fun? :) See all of the prompts here or here. Dear Santa, It’s been a while since I’ve written you a letter. Sorry I haven’t been in touch. But I know you’ve had your hands full. Speaking of… Santa, you’ve seen a good number of years go by… do you find that the time seems to go by faster every year? I can’t believe how quickly this year came and went. I say it every year, but it never ceases to impress me. Sorry, Santa, did I just call you old? My dad would say you must be drinking green smoothies. Do you drink green smoothies, Santa? Looking back, it was always so exciting waiting for you to come. It was the only day of the year my sister would wake up before me. And it was all because of you, Santa. …
