Bark and Wine

Last night was BDAR’s 3rd Annual Bark & Wine event! It’s a big fundraiser for the pups at the Historic Hynds Building in Cheyenne… there was food, a band, tons of silent auction items and of course wine and adoptable pups… plus one live auction at the end that we had a very hard time not bidding on (it was a week-long vacation at a luxury Steamboat cabin that held up to 12 people). I had my reluctant sidekick with me (Danny) – we decided on two items and I put down a few other bids but got out-bid on everything but one – a photo of one of the Union Pacific trains. We’ve started collecting photos and such from places that we go… so this one will be a good Cheyenne memory :) OH, they also had a “Name a Foster Dog” donation thing going on… so Danny donated to name a pup Donut… I just can’t wait to see who they decide to give the name to. I made two items for the auction… a …

Cloudee

So we said we weren’t going to foster anymore – mostly because we rent and the pet portion of our lease says 2 is the limit – but also because the two pups are a handful as it is. And they aren’t very social… we really need to work on their socialization skills. But after looking at Cloudee’s little pup face it was hard to do anything except say, “we’ll take him!” So we did. And it was wonderful. Finn and Zoe weren’t sure what to do with him at first. Finn would just run away scared and Zoe just kept sniffing him like she couldn’t figure out what he was. They finally warmed up to him the day before I dropped him off with his forever family – it was adorable. Zoe was really sweet and gentle when she started to play with him, and whenever Finn would start to play too rough, Zoe would intervene. Too cute. I think they really liked their little friend. Cloudee was only with us for about 6 …

Looking for Friends: Sweet Moment of the Day

Our doorbell rarely rings. Basically it has only gone off about 6 times since we moved in here, and most of those were food deliveries. But today it went off and of course the puppies got super excited and Finn started barking. I put them in the garage (my new strategy when there is someone at the door)… and opened the door. There were two adorable little girls standing there with their bike helmets on. They looked maybe 6 and 8… somewhere around there… I’m not the best at guessing ages. They looked a little nervous… the older one waited just a moment then said, “We’re looking for friends… we’re new here.” At first I didn’t know what to say… I think I just smiled at them for a few seconds… then I had to break it to them that no kids live at our house. They both looked a little defeated. But then I said, “but the kids right across the street just moved in, maybe you can check that house.” They both smiled, …

Ultimate Frisbee

Played ultimate frisbee today for Medgroup PT. It actually is a decent workout, considering all I do is run around like a crazy person and throw my arms around like I’m actually going to catch something. I touched the frisbee exactly 3 times. First, I picked it up to hand to the other team. Second, I blocked a throw really close to someone so my hand hurt for a while. And last, I tried to throw it once… and got blocked. There were plenty of holes in the grass, though, so running was challenging… it was a game in itself just to stay upright and not trip and fall on your face (which a few people did). Love it.
