Addictions

Last week, Danny told me that he thinks I have an addiction to dresses. Just because, sometimes, late at night, when I should be going to bed, I instead go online and shop for dresses (how can anyone resist all of the adorable and reasonably-priced dresses on ModCloth) and then make up reasons why I “need” them (even though I wear a uniform every day)… that doesn’t mean I’m addicted… does it? Hmm… So anyway, now he’s trying to tell me I have a dog addiction. I don’t see what’s so wrong with wanting to save every single stinkin’ adorable puppy face out there. The BDAR volunteer group on Facebook always posts the urgent dogs in Wyoming that need foster homes. Now that we’re not fostering anymore, it kills me inside every time I look at all those faces. Today, I guess someone came in to drop off 12 dogs at one of the shelters that we work with… 12! I just want to pick one (or maybe 3) and say we’ll take him/her/them! Please …

Dog Scouts of America

It’s a real thing. Who knew!? Well, apparently quite a few people knew… and their dogs have awesome badges. I’m not sure my dogs are qualified for any of the badges. Maybe if they had badges for licking and biting and jumping on people… or maybe for farting or digging… :( Ugh, I guess it really is time to take them to obedience classes…

DIY “Adopt Me” Vest

Update (Dec14): Find the printable pattern HERE. Thanks! Taking inspiration from here, here, and here – I decided to take on the adopt me vest and make my own version for BDAR (as you may know, I used to be a foster mom to some adorable pups… until this one came along and we foster failed) :) So now that I can’t foster anymore (silly rental agreements), I’m trying to find other ways to help out. Hence, my first sewing project with my new sewing machine. Note: I watched my mom sew through my entire childhood, but this is my first unassisted sewing project ever… so if I can do it… you know the saying :) Easy peasy. Materials Needed: Fabric in a few different colors (how much just depends on what size and/or how many you’re going to make) Elastic (I used dollar store headbands) Printable transfer sheets Thread Pins Scissors Tissue paper (or other paper to make the pattern) Starch (optional) Iron Sewing machine STEP 1: MAKE YOUR PATTERN I’m not really one for measuring, so I …

Thankfuls continued… blues, friends, patients with patience, bread, and boyfriend

As always… a lot to catch up on… 5 November – I am thankful for my blues… and the fact that I only wear them once a week. 6 November – I am thankful for my friends… near and far… new and old. They are the glue in my ever-changing life. They keep me sane even if I haven’t talked to them for a while. Just knowing they are there for me can get me though anything. 7 November – I am thankful for the patients at work who genuinely say “Oh, that’s all!?” when I tell them they are going to have a 30-minute wait time for their prescription (pretty standard)… also the ones who call their refills in early and those who smile when they come to the pick-up window… it is you wonderful, patient and understanding people that (who?) make my days brighter :) – oh, grammar, sometimes you baffle me 8 November – I am thankful for the Great Harvest Bread Company and their amazing pumpkin chocolate chip muffins… so fresh and warm at 0630… and their free slices …

Thankful November

I stole this idea from a few people who were posting on Facebook… daily notes on what you are thankful for throughout November. I already missed a few days, but I will try to make up for it: 1 November – I am thankful to be a part of the United States Armed Forces and the US Air Force Pharmacy Family. Last week, I attended the Joint Forces Pharmacy Seminar where members from all different branches come together to share ideas and learn what is new and upcoming in DoD Pharmacy. Even though the event was almost cancelled, our learership stepped up and made it happen for another year. This was my first Joint Forces, and it was really awesome to see everyone come together like that, sharing stories and experiences. I am thankful to be a part of something so much bigger than myself and I look forward to everything the future has to bring within this organization. 2 November – I am thankful for short hair! I recently cut it and it’s the shortest it’s been …
