Free PDF Adopt Me Vest Sewing Pattern! +My Favorite Non-Profit Orgs

First things first! I created a PDF sewing pattern! This one has been a long time coming. And by that I mean I’ve been lazy and didn’t get around to making it until I was asked by BDAR a few weeks ago for input on making adopt me vests. I’ve made them a few batches of vests in the past, but of course they get lost or worn out over time, so they were looking to make some more. Actually, they are thinking of having a fabric drive and sewing party to make adopt me vests! Is that not the best idea ever!? It’s like an old-school LAN party… but with sewing machines instead of computers! And all for a good cause. Love it! So anywhoo… I finally got around to putting this together. The pattern is free, of course, but if you use it or find any benefit to it, please consider donating any amount to Black Dog Animal Rescue, the org the pattern was created for, or any local animal rescue of your …

Blogmas Catch-up & Sunday Sew Love: 14 December

Eeek… what happened? I missed two days of Blogmas! :) Ooops. Well, day 12 was “Winter Activity” during which time Danny and I were out galavanting in San Fran in the rain… so I’ll consider that our winter activity :) Speaking of, it was really sad; we stayed in Union Square thinking there would be some awesome Christmas lights and such, and the power was out from the storm :( I didn’t even take one picture while we were there. Oh well; next time! Here are a few pictures from our county during the storm (stolen from Facebook… it didn’t get bad at our house):   Other wonderful winter activities I’ve been participating in include: watching movies snuggled up by the Christmas Tree (finally watched Shawshank Redemption – I’d never seen it – amazing movie! And I’m taking that as one more mark on the 30 before 30 list!) :), online shopping (I know it’s Christmas and all but still I think I have a problem… lol), baking, sewing, wrapping presents, and going to the …

Winter Handmade Gift Exchange & Sunday Sew Love: 7 December

For today’s Blogmas14 post (topic: DIY Christmas Present), here is my DIY contribution to the Winter Handmade Gift Exchange from Craftaholics Anonymous. The package totally looked like that (above… so pretty, right!?) on my way to the post office. You would think having just moved I would’ve had a million and a half boxes sitting around to use for mailing, but we did a fantastic job of piling all of our boxes into the trailer and having my dad haul them off! So anywhoo… I got to the post office with no box – it ALMOST fit in the small size priority box… I mean it was so close! Ugh. So I resorted to tossing the bow to make it fit… and it still didn’t fit! At that point I frustratingly stuffed the sad little bow-less box into a big envelope. Thinking back, the bow probably would have fit in the envelope. Hmm… next time :) Either way, that’s what it was supposed to look like :)   Find more DIY Christmas Presents at the …

DIY Holiday Gift Guide: FOR HIM

I think I may have had too much fun with this one. It’s a bit of a bacon overload. But what guy doesn’t love bacon? Okay, what girl doesn’t love bacon? Other than you awesome veggie people (I’m still trying to be more of one… it’s just so hard when there’s so much bacon around)! 1 | Sewn Tie | I made a tie for my dad this year for Father’s Day from a different pattern, but this tutorial looks pretty nice and simple. 2 | DIY Gourmet Bacon | Because why not?! 3 | Star Trek Pot Holders | I made one of these for a wedding gift a year and a half or so ago but never finished it… it’s sitting in my closet almost done. Maybe I should get on that… but really; who am I kidding? More likely we’re looking at a 5-year anniversary present. :/ 4 | Cornhole Boards | I love the design on these ones; it would also be fun to personalize with a favorite sports team, etc. 5 …

DIY Holiday Gift Guide: FOR HER

In case you’re wanting to go the DIY route this holiday season… here are a few ideas to get you started! (or maybe you’ve already started… in which case you are much more on top of things than I am) :/ 1 | Chalkboard paint wine glasses | Wine gifts are always a win in my book. And this one looks super easy; wrap it up with some chalk and you’re all set :) 2 | Tile coasters | These are also cute when made with photos, fabric, etc. Apparently you can make just about anything into a coaster… all you need is a little mod podge! 3 | Nook cover | Or kindle, iPhone, laptop, camera, etc. etc… 4 | Scarf camera strap | So beautiful! I really need to try to make myself one of these. Or… I mean… make one for a gift. Yep, that’s definitely what I meant ;) 5 | Champagne Glass Tassels | Another fun way to remember which glass is yours… instead you just have to remember what color tassel is yours …
