Free PDF Adopt Me Vest Sewing Pattern! +My Favorite Non-Profit Orgs

First things first! I created a PDF sewing pattern! This one has been a long time coming. And by that I mean I’ve been lazy and didn’t get around to making it until I was asked by BDAR a few weeks ago for input on making adopt me vests. I’ve made them a few batches of vests in the past, but of course they get lost or worn out over time, so they were looking to make some more. Actually, they are thinking of having a fabric drive and sewing party to make adopt me vests! Is that not the best idea ever!? It’s like an old-school LAN party… but with sewing machines instead of computers! And all for a good cause. Love it! So anywhoo… I finally got around to putting this together. The pattern is free, of course, but if you use it or find any benefit to it, please consider donating any amount to Black Dog Animal Rescue, the org the pattern was created for, or any local animal rescue of your …

Blogmas Catch-up & Sunday Sew Love: 14 December

Eeek… what happened? I missed two days of Blogmas! :) Ooops. Well, day 12 was “Winter Activity” during which time Danny and I were out galavanting in San Fran in the rain… so I’ll consider that our winter activity :) Speaking of, it was really sad; we stayed in Union Square thinking there would be some awesome Christmas lights and such, and the power was out from the storm :( I didn’t even take one picture while we were there. Oh well; next time! Here are a few pictures from our county during the storm (stolen from Facebook… it didn’t get bad at our house): ย  Other wonderful winter activities I’ve been participating in include: watching movies snuggled up by the Christmas Tree (finally watched Shawshank Redemption – I’d never seen it – amazing movie! And I’m taking that as one more mark on the 30 before 30 list!) :), online shopping (I know it’s Christmas and all but still I think I have a problem… lol), baking, sewing, wrapping presents, and going to the …

What Christmas Means To Me

Christmas means… Family. What better excuse is there than Christmas to be around family??… or friends that I’ve adopted as family :) At least for me, Christmas is one of the few times I don’t let myself feel guilty at all if we just sit around and do absolutely nothing. Just being together and enjoying each others’ company is what it’s all about! Christmas means… Giving. Whether it’s time, money, or anything in between. I love wrapping presents so one of my favorite things in the past has been to find a local organization that is either wrapping presents that have been collected for kids or that is wrapping as a fundraiser. Also angel trees… those are always fun! One of my former co-workers would let each of her kids pick out a kid from the angel tree their same age and go shopping for them. I always thought that was such a great idea; and a fun family outing. Also of course giving to those I know. Some people are difficult to shop (or …

Salme Vegas Blazer

I downloaded the Salme Cropped Blazer pattern back in June when I made my Minna blouse but didn’t get around to making it till now. The Monthly Stitch outerwear challenge this month was the perfect motivation :) And it was good timing… it was something fun to wear in Vegas! We went for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon this past weekend and had sooo much fun (even though we were sore and hobbling around half the time we were there)! ย  I found this stretch herringbone suiting fabric when it was on sale atย Mood. It reminded me of this one, although there was no way I was going to attempt a lining like she did. :) I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who had trouble with the mitered corners. I absolutely did mine incorrectly… lol I also did the shoulders incorrectly, but I was having one of those moments. I realized I was just not going to understand the directions no matter how many times I read them over so I just did …

If we were here longer I’d ask to meet you for lunch! :) I’m running participating in the Rock ‘n’ Roll half this weekend. Although I had big plans for training, thoseย kinda absolutely fell to the wayside as I was finishing up at work and moving and all. So this one is definitely a just-for-fun run! Until next time,
