Me-Made-May… maybe next year :)

I’m just getting into this whole sewing world, and I’m realizing more and more every time I come online that the online sewing community is massive! :) It’s awesome. Seriously… lately I’ve been going online in the evenings and Danny keeps asking me what I’m doing. My answer is always something like “oh, you know, surfing the interwebs”… then he says “pinteresting?” (lol)… then I say “no… reading sewing blogs!”. Can you tell how I spend my time online?… :) I’m not sure which one makes me awesomer… but I’m pretty sure he thinks I’ve gone a little insane. But that’s okay with me!… and anyway I can’t keep up! There are so many! (And yes, I realize I just created a whole slew of words in that paragraph…). So anyway, it seems that everyone and their sister (and mother and brother) is participating in Me-Made-May or “MMM’14” – it’s a challenge for people to make a conscious effort to wear the items that they make. I would have loved to participate… but I have two …

Chiffon, Tulle & Jersey Knit Reversible Skirt

This is my 100th post on WordPress! Crazy! In honor of that, I got brave and had Danny take pictures of me for this one. As you may have noticed, I usually do headless shots of myself… half because I really don’t like taking pictures of myself… and half because usually when I finish making something I’m too lazy to brush my hair enough to look half decent for the picture. My hair spends most of its time in a sock bun at work; the rest of the time it’s usually wet from the shower in a messy bun. Today, though, is my first real day off in about a month (work has been a bit crazy) :/ — I had a few errands to run (picked up a few things for a project I’m working on for that day coming up next Sunday)… so I actually fixed my hair! I figured it was a prime opportunity to get a few photos of my new skirt. I made this one for the May Sew-along for Pretty …

I Think I Have a Fabric Problem

Yesterday I went to get my hair done (for the first time in over a year by the way… I need to get better at that) :/ …but the place I went to was right by Jo-Ann’s. So naturally I had to go inside… just to look around… Came out 45 minutes later with these…   That officially brings me up to 128 different fabrics in my stash. Yes, I’ve kept count… I actually have a spreadsheet to keep track of everything. That’s how I know I have a problem. I’ve only been doing this since July! I’m pretty sure it’s normal, though. Right!? I’ve done the same thing with my yarn stash. I’m just providing myself the opportunity to be inspired and make something any time the mood strikes. Plus, who can pass up a good fabric sale!? (not me, apparently)

Mercy, Explore, and Presence

So I’m a little late posting these… but here are my February, March, and April Sugar Block Club quilt squares! I’ve realized I have no color scheme… but I’m hoping it all comes together in the end! And yes, I also realize my March block is a little off (oops…) but that’s all part of my learning process; I didn’t feel like fixing it… I’m just letting it add character (although my OCD is really kicking in every time I look at it) :/ Gotta stay strong and just leave it…
