Put A Bird On It: Vintage McCall’s Edition

I have to admit, when the voting came around for this month’s TMS challenge, I believe I voted for “Put a fox on it”. Yes, there are some adorable fox prints out there… but I’m pretty the majority had it right on this one in selecting birds! :) Plus, I already had bird fabric in my stash from months ago! I got it back when we were living in Wyoming, shortly before we left. I had to travel to Utah to take my California pharmacy licensure exam (somehow this was the closest testing site) :/, so after the test I dragged Danny to A Fashionable Stitch back when she had her brick & mortar store open. It was an adorable place and I couldn’t pass up this beautiful cotton voile. I told myself it was my celebratory gift for passing my exam (even though I didn’t hear the results for months… I told myself I could use it as soon as I found out I passed… so considering I passed and have been working for …

Sunday Sew Love: 5 April

First things first… check out that picture: “Kyla, it’s just the Easter morning sky” you say. Well, yes… but that right there is the Easter morning sky… unedited… with no annoying black dot in the middle of the picture! Hooray! I finally got a cleaning kit for my camera. $8 vs. hundreds… I’m so glad I didn’t send it in to get professionally cleaned. At least this time it worked… I shouldn’t gloat too much or next time it may not :) But at least for now, it’s starting out to be a great day. HAPPY EASTER by the way! I’m hoping for no rain so we can do our brunch festivities outdoors, but I’m pretty sure that’s not on the weatherman’s agenda. We shall see… So this week is all about the details… ogle with me, will you… (top/left) Offsquare Winter Blazer | (top/right) Thread Theory Comfiest Jeans (bottom/left) See Kate Sew Soho Blouse | (bottom/right) Sewn by Elizabeth Relaxed Plantain Until next time,

Hello Spring! March Stitch Fix (#10!)

Well hello there, Spring! I was so excited about this fix. We’re headed to a friend’s wedding later this month so I asked for a few dress options. While I didn’t end up keeping either of the dresses they sent, it was still a really fun way to try some on! BRIXON IVY Foster Halter Dress | $88 | Status: Sent back Dress numero uno! I loved it at first sight! The color is fun and it’s perfect to wear to a spring wedding, but it didn’t end up fitting very well. Too tight in some places, too loose in others. On someone else this would be super super cute. Sanctuary Analise Textured Dress | $68 | Status: Sent back I loved the hemline on this one and it gave me some great ideas for a sew-at-home dress (textured fabric, two layers of fabric overlain in the front, that hemline!)… very fun ideas :) … but the colors weren’t really working for me. It’s hard to tell in the first picture but it’s pink and red …

Monday Sunday Sew Love

Well maybe one of these days I’ll get my days straight! :) So here’s what’s on my sewing table right now… I’m completely in love with this fabric, but I’m about halfway through and I’m not sure it was a good fabric-pattern match. :/ We’ll see how it finishes up… Exciting sewing tidbit! I won one of the prize packs from the Crazy Dog Lady Sewing Challenge! Wahoo! The winners were completely random, but I will take it! :) See all of the makes here and here. They are super impressive! So here’s the real reason we’re here: Lovely x 4! Fort Bragg Whale Run 2015

I’m not exactly the most serious of runners, but give me a nice view and a cute t-shirt, and I’m on board with just about any race you can throw at me. The Whale Run one was right up that alley. It was in Fort Bragg last weekend – right along the coast… and even though the weather wasn’t great, it was still so beautiful. Here are a few pictures from along the way: As I was coming across the finish line, phone in hand, the announcer made a comment about texting while running. :/ If only he knew how bad I am at texting… Anyway, I’ve decided I’m about halfway on board with phone photos. You go anywhere these days and all you see are people with there phones taking pictures. I’m usually standing around thinking, ‘what happened to all the cameras in the world!?’ Is this just another sign I’m getting old? Hmm… perhaps. But I guess I have to give my phone a little credit; they are decent quality. And it’s definitely better …
