Monday Sunday Sew Love

Well maybe one of these days I’ll get my days straight! :) So here’s what’s on my sewing table right now… I’m completely in love with this fabric, but I’m about halfway through and I’m not sure it was a good fabric-pattern match. :/ We’ll see how it finishes up… Exciting sewing tidbit! I won one of the prize packs from the Crazy Dog Lady Sewing Challenge! Wahoo! The winners were completely random, but I will take it! :) See all of the makes here and here. They are super impressive! So here’s the real reason we’re here: Lovely x 4! Until next time,

Crazy Dog Lady? Maybe… just a little…

Muahaha… yes, I couldn’t resist. How could I not join in on this challenge!? I had a vision in my head of puppy running leggings, but couldn’t find any fabric that fit what I was imagining. Plus, there aren’t many dog prints out there that look quite as adorable as my little mutt babies… sooo… in came Spoonflower… I used the same photo that I used for our Christmas Card this past year. I tried adding a few designs but ultimately decided to go with plain white. Gotta work on my pattern repeats if I want to try this fabric design thing again. I used the Sloan Leggings pattern from Hey June (view B, tall, 3/4 length). I was drawn to this pattern because of the design – and the long inseam option, of course!  I used my awesome Spoonflower Modern Jersey fabric and this black Tricot Satin Matte Nylon Spandex Knit from Girl Charlee. My puppy fabric turned out to be a little more see-through than I was imagining, but it still worked well enough. …

Sunday Sew Love: 1 March + SD Card Holder v.1

Well I think I finally got my sew-jo back! I have a whole list of very specific projects on my to-do list now and fabric picked out to go with each of them so I’m excited. Here’s version 1 of my SD card holder… there are a few things I want to change about it so I might end up with a few before I’m satisfied… but this will work for now. Much better than a plastic baggie :/ There are a slew of these on Etsy but I wanted to make my own and couldn’t find any instructions anywhere… so I’m creating some. I also like this tutorial from See Kate Sew, but I wanted more space for more cards. I seem to have acquired quite a few over the years (in other words, I forget to put one in my camera before almost every trip I go on so I have to buy a new one each time… oops) :) On to the topic of the day! Pretty dresses and cozy sweaters :) …

Nursing-Friendly Bellevue Modification

One quick addition to the Bellevue fun this week! I used this tutorial to make a nursing friendly version of the top for my sis for her b-day last week and it worked out really well. The accent pieces aren’t supposed to connect at the bottom, but they do because I went a little crazy with my serger so it came together a little tight at the bottom :/ I should have gone back to fix it but I ran out of time :( Might have to steal it back from her at some point… I used the same blue fabric as I did for my third test version of the top. I got this fabric before I had a clue what I was doing with my sewing machine so it’s been sitting around for a few years. Plus I have no idea what it is, but I really like it. If anyone can help me identify this fabric… I will love you forever :) haha… no… seriously tho… It’s lightweight, has a very slight horizontal stretch …

Straight Stitch Designs Bellevue Pattern Testing!

Yay! I tested a pattern! Meet the Bellevue top from Straight Stitch Designs! I made all 3 of these versions from the first draft of the pattern… I guess I was just super excited and started cutting right away. Then Kimberly started putting out updates and by the end it went through a bunch of drafts and I have no doubt the final version is even more wonderful. Even without the changes, though, I had a lot of fun making these and they are all super wearable. Also, I didn’t use my serger on these because I was making them quickly and was too lazy to change the thread :/ but I’ll definitely use it for future versions. Not that you can tell from the outside… but still… I’m starting to get pickier about how my insides look :) Version 1 This one was a fabric mash-up from my stash! Actually, all of the fabrics I used for these tops are from my stash. Now that I don’t live near a fabric store, I’m limited; luckily …
