Last few makes of 2015!

I know, I know… it’s halfway through January already. But I’m claiming these as 2015 because they were mostly finished in December. :) First up, a little Star Wars goodness!   I just couldn’t resist this fabric from Knitorious Fabrics (this was my first exposure to custom knit prints other than Spoonflower… it’s very dangerous territory!) so I made some leggings for myself and PJ pants for the guy. Mine were done minus hemming in time to go see the new Star Wars on Christmas Eve. His I completed after we got home from the movie and dinner in time to wrap up for Christmas morning :) Naturally, I used my go-to Matilda Leggings for these (unfortunately they have fully switched over to kid patterns only… which are adorable of course but it’s sad for their women’s patterns which have disappeared – so glad I downloaded all of them way back when! ;)  I went with my usual adjustments (added 1/2″ to the rise and sized down on the waistband). I also doubled the waistband …

Happy New Year!

HAPPY beginning of 2014! 2013 was a great year! So many things happened I could never recount them all but here are a few notables: Moved to a new place (I can’t believe we’ve almost lived here a year already!) Adopted Finn (amazing decision…. I couldn’t imagine my life without him) Went to BOMO (Biomedical Officer Management Orientation) in San Antonio Got my new car! (I’m still absolutely in love with the thing) Visited a new country (Belize) Completed my 2nd half-marathon Crossed a few items off the Cheyenne Bucket List (which I need to write down one of these days), including the Manitou Incline, high tea at the Nagle Warren Mansion, Wild Animal Sanctuary, and Red Rocks Park Went to Trina & Danh’s wedding (and congratulated Kendra & Adam from afar)! Also said goodbye to a couple of people who’s lives were cut way too short – Lacy, a Phi Delta Chi brother and my cousin John. Here’s to cherishing the memories of those we’ve lost, to loving and enjoying the time we have …

As many people, I’ve never been very good at keeping to my resolutions, and decided instead to make very specific and what I thought were reachable goals. Instead of “I will work out every day in the new year and get super fit” I made the goal to complete one of my workout programs (I love Chalean Extreme and had recently purchased Insanity). I made 10 goals total, and then decided on my top 3, or what I thought would be my most challenging goals. For each, I mapped myself out a 60-day challenge, wherein I rewarded myself at 1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month, and then the 2-month mark. I used things that I really wanted (or thought that I needed since I had just moved into my new place… some small, some larger) and told myself I could not purchase them until I stuck with my goals for that pre-determined amount of days. If/when I faltered, I would have to …
