Little things for the little ones

My little cousins keep multiplying! :) And another one’s due in May. Soooo… I’ve been a little busy… Newborn hat (made using this tutorial); the main fabric is from my grandma stash; the blue flower fabric is from a tank top (SP24) And here she is – the sweet little thing: Crochet baby sandals (made using this adorable pattern) and colors quiet book (see my other post on that here)   Little lumberjack hat (made using this tutorial… used flannel instead of the fleece that she used; but I think it worked out great… and it was really simple and quick to make, which is always a plus!) (SP25) Knit summer shirt (made using this pattern and yarn leftover from a pillow I made a while back)    Comfy knit dress (made using this awesome tutorial and fabric from my grandma stash) (SP26) I hope everything fits! Every time I see them it’s like they are another year or two older (usually because they are!) :(… so I really have no idea how big they’ve gotten other …

Colors Quiet Book

OK… I’m fairly confident that the person I’m making this for doesn’t even know I have this blog. So I think I’m pretty safe posting it. I cut a small rectangle of grey fleece for the base of each page and started laying things out from there… In order to not overwhelm myself with posting… I’m …

From knitting to sewing to doll-making, beading, cooking, and baking… she did it all! She also ran a ceramic shop for many years.  We grew up with handmade dolls, sweaters, afghans, ceramic ornaments… basically everything you can think of that can be made by hand.  Looking back to 2003… I had gone off to college. Among other things, a couple of my friends and I decided to join a crochet club. It was called STITCH (which stood for “Students Taking Initiative To Crochet Hats”). Awesome, I know. They taught me to crochet. Then I went home that Christmas and had my grandma teach me how to knit. She gave me my first pair of knitting needles and they are still my favorite! I cannot even say in words how glad I am for that time that I was able to spend with her and the fact that I gained a …
