Looking for Friends: Sweet Moment of the Day

Our doorbell rarely rings. Basically it has only gone off about 6 times since we moved in here, and most of those were food deliveries. But today it went off and of course the puppies got super excited and Finn started barking. I put them in the garage (my new strategy when there is someone at the door)… and opened the door. There were two adorable little girls standing there with their bike helmets on. They looked maybe 6 and 8… somewhere around there… I’m not the best at guessing ages. They looked a little nervous… the older one waited just a moment then said, “We’re looking for friends… we’re new here.” At first I didn’t know what to say… I think I just smiled at them for a few seconds… then I had to break it to them that no kids live at our house. They both looked a little defeated. But then I said, “but the kids right across the street just moved in, maybe you can check that house.” They both smiled, …

Ultimate Frisbee

Played ultimate frisbee today for Medgroup PT. It actually is a decent workout, considering all I do is run around like a crazy person and throw my arms around like I’m actually going to catch something. I touched the frisbee exactly 3 times. First, I picked it up to hand to the other team. Second, I blocked a throw really close to someone so my hand hurt for a while. And last, I tried to throw it once… and got blocked. There were plenty of holes in the grass, though, so running was challenging… it was a game in itself just to stay upright and not trip and fall on your face (which a few people did). Love it.

My Kindle Nook… or is it a Nook Kindle?

So… Danny got me a Nook for my B-day this year. It’s a wonderful gadget and all… but I am a Kindle girl at heart (he really didn’t understand the difference) :P So I feel like I’m compromising. Instead of giving up my birthday present… I’m working the system and using my Nook as a Kindle. Maybe it’s cheating, but I couldn’t imagine having it any other way. BTW, it took me two and a half weeks to decide what to do about it. I even called my mom for advice. That’s how concerned I was. Now to sew it a cover…

Addictions

Last week, Danny told me that he thinks I have an addiction to dresses. Just because, sometimes, late at night, when I should be going to bed, I instead go online and shop for dresses (how can anyone resist all of the adorable and reasonably-priced dresses on ModCloth) and then make up reasons why I “need” them (even though I wear a uniform every day)… that doesn’t mean I’m addicted… does it? Hmm… So anyway, now he’s trying to tell me I have a dog addiction. I don’t see what’s so wrong with wanting to save every single stinkin’ adorable puppy face out there. The BDAR volunteer group on Facebook always posts the urgent dogs in Wyoming that need foster homes. Now that we’re not fostering anymore, it kills me inside every time I look at all those faces. Today, I guess someone came in to drop off 12 dogs at one of the shelters that we work with… 12! I just want to pick one (or maybe 3) and say we’ll take him/her/them! Please …

Dog Scouts of America

It’s a real thing. Who knew!? Well, apparently quite a few people knew… and their dogs have awesome badges. I’m not sure my dogs are qualified for any of the badges. Maybe if they had badges for licking and biting and jumping on people… or maybe for farting or digging… :( Ugh, I guess it really is time to take them to obedience classes…
