Top Picks in Patterns & Fabric | EARLY ACCESS

Hahaha… okay so I follow quite a few blogs. Mostly sewing and fashion blogs… very inspirational on both ends. I’ve finally gotten back to reading them here and there and it seems lately the blog-sphere has been bombarded with the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (on the fashion blog side). There’s nothing wrong with that, of course, and I’ve even saved a few items to my wishlist to see if they’re still in stock for after the “cardholder early access what-not week” (these leggings, this bra, and these booties)… BUT mostly I just look on there and think, ‘oh, what pattern could I use to make that’ etc, etc. So I’ve decided to do my own version of one of those posts, but instead share my picks of two sales going on right now in the sewing world! First, The Monthly Stitch just posted their pattern bundle for this year’s Indie Pattern Month (every year in July). Last year they did a few different bundles but this year they are doing it a little different and letting …

A Toaster Sweater for Engagement Photos

Okay, I’ll try to spare you the blabbering rant about how long it’s been… let’s just hope I remember what I’m doing here. Or who I am. It’s hard to know after you’ve been sucked into the abyss of wedding everything for so long. We’ve been back from the honeymoon for a couple of weeks now and I feel like I’m finally settling back in. I finally got to clear off the kitchen table this past weekend, so that was pretty amazing. I’ll get into all of the wedding DIY hoopla soon, but for now I’ll start off with a catch-up post from January :) The only non-wedding thing I made this year before jumping into the deep end… Yes, it’s the Sew House Seven Toaster Sweater 2! Made to go along with January’s Project #SewMyStyle. I was undecided about the neckline at first (I’m not usually a fan of high necklines & turtlenecks), but so many cute versions were popping up on IG, I figured I had to try it out! There’s probably not much …

Top 5 of 2016

Another year is officially down in the books, folks! I hope everyone had exciting and/or relaxed and/or sleepy celebrations last night! :) Tis time for a little reflection on all of the crazy things that flew by in the past 365 days. Cheers to another round of top 5’s. See also:   Hits White Lace Hey June Charleston Dress. This dress marks the first time I’ve made an official muslin for the sole purpose of fitting (of course it turned out to be wearable… and I only did it because the dress wasn’t for me… but still). :) Progress. Plus, it got worn for two events, so I think I had a decently satisfied recipient! Granted, after taking hand sewing at Camp Workroom Social later in the year, I got a little sad about my sheer lack of regard for my lace seams (there was no piecing together of any lace here, peeps!)… but it still turned out, and got worn, so that’s what matters! And yes, the mint zipper is still my favorite part (and the girl wearing …

Panama Tee Dress Testing

Hello and happy November! Don’t even get me started on how it is almost Thanksgiving already ;) So I have a few other things I need to post, but I couldn’t wait any longer to share my most recent pattern testing experience… this time with Alina Design Sewing | Design Co. :) While still in the midst of searching for the perfect tee dress pattern since I made my last one (albeit not looking all THAT hard) ;) I thankfully got the email announcing a tester call for Alina’s newest release, the Panama Tee Dress! It came at the prefect time, too. It was right at the end of my crazy Halloween sewing week and right before I planned to get started on my wedding dress (I told myself November… but again, it’s already almost Thanksgiving… what is happening!?) ;). Anyway, I couldn’t resist. So without further ado, here are the three latest additions to my handmade wardrobe and a new go-to pattern added to the collection… First up is View A, the classic tee.   The …
