Basic Writing Skills

I’m not even sure what a hashtag is… but if I were to use one right now, it would be #preceptorproblems …how do you tell someone they need to go start over and learn how to write a proper sentence. :/ Yes, I realize I am not a pro writer and I definitely don’t always use proper sentence structure here… but if you are a professional student in a graduate program turning in a paper – I believe you should be expected to write at a certain level. Fun Fact: According to the Tongue and Quill (the AF’s guide to effective communication), sentences should generally not have more than 20 words (average is 17 words).

Packing for Belize

So excited! We leave tomorrow night on a red-eye flight for Belize. It’s my first time out of the country (other than Canada or a cruise line) since I studied abroad in 2005… that’s way too long for my liking! :) We’re meeting up with (some of) Danny’s family and staying on one of the little secluded islands off the coast (Ambergris Caye)… apparently some of the best scuba diving in the world. I’m hoping that I get over myself and get brave enough to take a scuba course while I’m there… we’ll see tho :) Also hoping to take an excursion to the mainland to see some Mayan ruins and such. We’ll be there during the Costa Maya Festival, so hopefully it’s not too crazy. Whatever we do, I’m sure it will be amazing! So my bag has actually been packed since last weekend. I didn’t want to stress myself out, so I planned it out early for once. Normally, it takes me at least 6 hours to pack a bag… and I usually …

DIY Kindle/Nook Cover

Sewing project #3 – Kindle Nook Cover! Taking inspiration from here and here, I made my own version with fabric I had on leftover… It’s not exactly straight (I really don’t like measuring, and I’m still working on that whole sewing straight thing)… but it’ll be perfect for protecting my new Nook on vacation in my carry on :)
