Memorial Day

I spent a month in DC for one of my pharmacy rotations during my last year of school. It’s such a beautiful city to visit, and home to so many wonderful memorials honoring those we’ve lost. In honor of the day, I thought I’d share a few of my favorite photos from while I was there. My uncle’s name is in the top photo. I never got to meet him, but I hear he was a really amazing guy. Uncle Andy, I’m thinking of you today. Until next time,

Onesies for the Little!

It’s probably no surprise by now that I love the Matilda legging pattern from Spit Up & Stilettos. Actually I love all of their patterns, I just have yet to try any of the others :)! And all of their women’s patterns are free! But they also have some awesome kid patterns — soooo now that I have a little nephew to sew for — I decided to try out the Dylan Onesie for this month’s TMS challenge! **UPDATE: the kid patterns from Spit Up & Stilettos are now available under the label Sadie + Sam; their women’s patterns can be found here** I wasn’t quite ready to take on Menswear… but for this little guy… that I can do!   (we had a little 6-month photo session last weekend… isn’t he the cutest!?!) :) So anyway, I made two. For the first, I used this leftover two sided cotton jersey… so now he can match his momma (and his aunt!) lol For the second one I used some of my Spoonflower puppy fabric (also …

Me-Made-May’15 Part Two

09|31 Too hot outside to wear sweaters! But my self-drafted aztec sweater also doubles wonderfully as a comfy robe around the house when the boy keeps it too cool for me :) 10|31 My sis and I walked a 5K — I wore my new pink Matilda leggings (more to come…!) 11|31 More new leggings! (unblogged) and a sweet little pup face :) I guess Finny approves of them :) 12|31 It was finally cool enough in the morning to need a second layer for work. My Salme Cropped Blazer fit the bill perfectly. 13|31 Another newbie (unblogged)! A Hemlock Tee for me! It was more casual than I usually go for work but in honor of Me-Made-May I went for it :) 14|31 A bit of a strange combination – my first Bellevue tee with a pencil skirt for work. And Mr. Finn joining my morning photo again – almost camoflage in his chair :) 14|31 Thursday evening I finally broke out my Ginger Jeans for dinner with friends. Thursday was a double day so Friday …

Me-Made Mother’s Day Hemlock Tee

First off, HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to my amazing madre! And of course to all of you other moms out there! On the topic of mothers (and daughters) – I’ve been watching a lot of Gilmore Girls recently (I’ve seen them all multiple times… Danny hasn’t… so now that they’re on Netflix, naturally, we started from the beginning). I still love everything about that show. It’s right there with Friends for me. It never gets old. Anyway, if you like the show, you’ll probably appreciate this. I especially agree with #10! lol So… back to Mother’s Day… as much as I do love flowers and I know she appreciates them, I wanted to go a little more original this year :) I was going between the Mandy Boat Tee and the Hemlock Tee – but I think what drew me more to the Mandy Boat Tee was the one version they show in the pictures that’s made from a really pretty blue stripe fabric – but overall I like the scoop neck better. SO… I went best of both worlds and found …

Me-Made-May’15 Part One

01|31 Starting it off right in my Aztec Bellevue. 02|31 Took a little stroll with the family in my Sloan Leggings (in pink and in training) :) 03|31 Finished sewing my new Union St. Tee just in time to go to the mooovies! 04|31 My Minna Blouse turned out to be a little more resilient than I thought. At least it’s good enough to wear to work. :) 05|31 Putting a bird on my work day in my Vintage McCall’s 6367. 06|31 A random Wednesday off work = lounging/sewing time in my Aztec Matilda Leggings! 07|31 Raiding my dad’s garden in my most comfortable tee ever – my Seamed Stripes Swing Tee! 08|31 Trying to liven up the work week in my Floral Blocked Skirt! Can you floral block something? Or is it still color blocking? Haha… Katy got me thinking. Reflections on the week: Right away, I put these two in the donate pile: The skirt was fun to make but isn’t realistic at all for my wardrobe. And the shorts – I can’t go on pretending these actually …
