Sunday Sew Love: 15 February

I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine’s Day yesterday! It was a lazy day for us, and I actually had a nice chunk of sewing time, which was amazing. Then we had a nice romantic dinner – Chinese takeout in front of the TV! This is 29, I suppose. lol So I’ve been feeling the love this week in the sewing world! Idea Board: Bellevue Top

I’m super excited to share that I’m a pattern tester for the new Bellevue top – coming soon from Kimberly at Straight Stitch Designs. It’s my first time as a pattern tester. Although I admit I haven’t made any of her other patterns yet, I love how all of her tops are simple with a twist. The Bellevue top is right along those same lines. It’s the first top I’ve sewn with raglan sleeves, so that’s fun on its own, but with the fabric-mixing and shirt tail hem, I feel like there are endless possibilities. I’ve made one version so far and cut fabric for two more, but the ideas abound for this one… [Inspiration photos pulled from Pinterest, of course :) – click on any of the pictures below to go to the individual pins/sources] A LITTLE BIT OF LACE    FLORALS / PATTERN MIXING     NEUTRALS       NEUTRALS WITH A TWIST   I’ll be sharing my test creations after the pattern comes out. I’m so excited to see what everyone else comes up with! …

Who needs underwire, anyway?

Exhibit A: A week or so ago, I came home to my underwire sticking out of my bra about two inches. It was almost sticking out of the top of my shirt. Okay, that’s a bit of an exaggeration (how low would my shirt have been if it were… phew) but it does make me wonder if anyone else noticed because I sure didn’t. But then I didn’t want to just toss it out (and by “it” in this instance I mean the bra) so I kept wearing it with just the one underwire. Do I fix it? Do I toss it? Do I just take the underwire out of the other side and call it a day? Are my hoarding tendencies coming out in full force here? Possibly. Anyway, so I’m also fighting the need that I have to save every little thing because maybe, just maybe, I’ll reuse or do something with it someday. Hmm… maybe this should have been titled “Confessions of a hoarder trying to simplify her life but she can’t …

Sunday Sew Love: 8 February

So I seem to have acquired the head cold that’s been going around. Between that and the rain all weekend, it’s been a super lazy couple of days. It’s been nice, though. I caught up on a bunch of cleaning around the house and even rearranged the living room. Our living room is a really awkward shape, so it’s really difficult to work with. I’ll probably rearrange again, but I’m giving it some time. This week was full of pretty basics and fun prints (who doesn’t love pineapples!?). Plus I must have a thing for this gold fabric Andrea keeps using – I also posted her dress in this fabric a few weeks ago. I think I love it as leggings even more!
