May KnitFix & A Union St. Tee Hack

I go back and forth between picking a pattern to match my fabric and picking fabric to match my pattern. I usually go with the latter, but sometimes it’s fun to have the fabric first and find a pattern that fits. That brings us to KnitFix! I got one back in December and told myself I could get another one once I’d used all the different fabrics (it comes with 6 surprise 2-yard knit cuts and it’s a really fun way to try new knits that you wouldn’t necessarily pick out yourself… kinda like Stitch Fix for sewing!). Well, it’s been 6 months… and I still have two that I haven’t used from that December fix so I finally gave in and got a second one. :) And to be fair, I do have plans for the last two… I just need to execute them :) So here’s what I got! No idea what to do with the weird pink & brown print one. The card says it’s a floral, but I’m not really sure …

Me-Made Inventory & A New Make!

Before I get into outfits and what not… it’s nice to see everything in one place – or take a look at what I’m up against, however you want to look at it. So here it is in all its glory… my me-made wardrobe! TOPS BOTTOMS OTHER It’s not much, but it’s mine and I love that it’s slowly growing and helping me figure out my style (or if I even have one) :) See individual posts for most of the items here. And now for my first me-made make in May! Say that 5 times fast :) I wanted to try out the sizing on the Union St. Tee, so while I was cutting fabric for a skirt, I cut one out in the same fabrics. I cut a small this time because the fabric was a little thicker and more stretchy than last time. It’s a black ponte de roma from Girl Charlee, and I combined it with this black stretch vegan leather for the sleeves. A fun twist on the plain black tee. …

Casual Friday: Union St. Tee

Do you have casual Fridays? I don’t, but here’s a little piece of casual sewing on Friday anyway! :) As you can probably tell, these photos were taken on the same day as my bird top. Gotta take advantage of the time and the weather when I have it :) (don’t mind the pups… poor Finny doesn’t get to win very often) Fabric: This was another knit from my knit fix way back when :) It’s a really soft, lightweight knit. It was fun to work with, although super slippery and kind of a pain to keep a hold of when I was sewing the neckline. Pattern: Hey June Union St. Tee. I’m pretty sure the sentiment about this pattern is consistent across the blogsphere – it’s a wonderful pattern! It’s a simple top, but the directions are great. It was my first time with a v-neck, and it turned out a lot easier than I was imagining. The fabric didn’t have a lot of stretch, so I sized up to the medium and I think it …
