“Adopt Me” Vests: Round Two

I normally don’t make things more than once. But I made an exception for the pups (see the first batch here). Plus I had all that fabric to use up — in the end, the vests worked out to be closer to $2.60 each (plus of course the 2-3 hours it took to make each one… but at least I got faster as time went on…) Oh… and here are a few of pics of BDAR pups wearing the last ones I made… so cute!    Update (Dec14): Find the printable adopt me vest pattern HERE. Thanks!

Addictions

Last week, Danny told me that he thinks I have an addiction to dresses. Just because, sometimes, late at night, when I should be going to bed, I instead go online and shop for dresses (how can anyone resist all of the adorable and reasonably-priced dresses on ModCloth) and then make up reasons why I “need” them (even though I wear a uniform every day)… that doesn’t mean I’m addicted… does it? Hmm… So anyway, now he’s trying to tell me I have a dog addiction. I don’t see what’s so wrong with wanting to save every single stinkin’ adorable puppy face out there. The BDAR volunteer group on Facebook always posts the urgent dogs in Wyoming that need foster homes. Now that we’re not fostering anymore, it kills me inside every time I look at all those faces. Today, I guess someone came in to drop off 12 dogs at one of the shelters that we work with… 12! I just want to pick one (or maybe 3) and say we’ll take him/her/them! Please …

Dog Scouts of America

It’s a real thing. Who knew!? Well, apparently quite a few people knew… and their dogs have awesome badges. I’m not sure my dogs are qualified for any of the badges. Maybe if they had badges for licking and biting and jumping on people… or maybe for farting or digging… :( Ugh, I guess it really is time to take them to obedience classes…

DIY “Adopt Me” Vest

Update (Dec14): Find the printable pattern HERE. Thanks! Taking inspiration from here, here, and here – I decided to take on the adopt me vest and make my own version for BDAR (as you may know, I used to be a foster mom to some adorable pups… until this one came along and we foster failed) :) So now that I can’t foster anymore (silly rental agreements), I’m trying to find other ways to help out. Hence, my first sewing project with my new sewing machine. Note: I watched my mom sew through my entire childhood, but this is my first unassisted sewing project ever… so if I can do it… you know the saying :) Easy peasy. Materials Needed: Fabric in a few different colors (how much just depends on what size and/or how many you’re going to make) Elastic (I used dollar store headbands) Printable transfer sheets Thread Pins Scissors Tissue paper (or other paper to make the pattern) Starch (optional) Iron Sewing machine STEP 1: MAKE YOUR PATTERN I’m not really one for measuring, so I …

Life Updates

So as you may or may not know, I was supposed to be on a ship right now traveling around Central America on my humanitarian deployment… but that got officially cancelled almost a month ago. And what have I done since then? I really couldn’t tell you! Time has been flying by like crazy! Work has been insane and I constantly feel like I am just trying to keep my head above water. One thing I know is that I finally retired my little ’96 Nissan for a new-to-me ’13 Ford Edge, and I am loving it! I loved my little pink car, but it was time to move on. And although I am now getting half the MPG I was before (filled up my new car for the first time this week and it was painful watching the $$ go up and up…), but it’s alright. It’s worth it for the incredible jump in safety and comfort I now have. Anyway, what else is new?! Danny and I decided to adopt Finn, our 7th …
