Pups from January

These photos were from January… but I just came across them and they’re too funny not to share on here. Zoe the destroyer: Finn learning to sit pretty: Finn’s next challenge: Stay. He’s mastered sit, lay down, and shake with vocal or hand signals, and now is a pro at sit pretty… but he is just too excitable when there’s food in front of him to stay. I’ve gotten one step… but we still have a ways to go. Zoe on the other is now trying to copy Finn and sit pretty. She sits funny, so she’s having a hard time balancing… but it’s pretty adorable to watch. Her arsenal of behaviors currently includes sit, lay down, shake, high five, stay, and play dead.

Easy Walk Harness Padding

The pups love to go for walks. And when I say love I mean LOVE with a capital everything and rawhides on top. We use a halti collar with Zoe. She’s a pro when she has it on. Finn on the other hand… we’re still working on. He chewed his way through his halti twice, but still pulls too much for just his regular collar.  So… we got him an Easy Walk harness. It has completely changed the way he walks. And it’s perfectly safe… except last time… we went for a really long walk with him and it rubbed under his little arm so much that he ended up with a bloody armpit and then a scab that he wouldn’t stop scratching at. We had to wait a while to go for another walk and watch it to make sure he was healing. SO… here’s my solution! Fleece pup harness padding! It was only rubbing his skin on the bottom strap… so I cut a rectangular piece of fleece the length of that strap, folded it …

Finn’s Bow Tie

Danny thought Finn needed a bow tie. After all, he is a very handsome boy. Here’s how it turned out: (SP18) He seemed pretty happy with it until he started shaking and scratching to get it off. Oh well… at least he looked adorable for a couple minutes. :) Again, Zoe was not impressed. Oh, and I started Pure Barre today… wow… there’s nothing like a good reminder of how absolutely non-flexible I am to get me going in the morning. Definitely not for beginners. But it was great. I think my legs are still shaking. Here’s to a strong, flexible year to come! :)

Christmas Crafting, Part 2

(See Part One) Before it gets too far from the season… #6. Infinity Scarf (gift for Bethany) #7. Finn’s Christmas Stocking! Finished on Christmas day – luckily we weren’t celebrating with the pups until I got back from California :) It turned out a lot smaller than Zoe’s but I didn’t realize it until I got back and put them next to each other. Oh, well… :) He still enjoyed the treats that came out of it! I used this pattern. Here is Zoe with hers from last year: #8. Magic The Gathering Coffee Mug (gift for Danny) I tried out the sharpie technique (write anything on the mug with a sharpie and bake it for a half hour at 350 degrees) – worked like a charm. I cut out the symbols, traced them onto the mug and filled them in with colored sharpies. Danny is excited to bring it to work.        #9. Purple Dress Apron (gift for Em) This was my first attempt at using a pattern. I used McCall’s M6366, option C …
