Memorial Day

I spent a month in DC for one of my pharmacy rotations during my last year of school. It’s such a beautiful city to visit, and home to so many wonderful memorials honoring those we’ve lost. In honor of the day, I thought I’d share a few of my favorite photos from while I was there. My uncle’s name is in the top photo. I never got to meet him, but I hear he was a really amazing guy. Uncle Andy, I’m thinking of you today. Until next time,

Me-Made Mother’s Day Hemlock Tee

First off, HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to my amazing madre! And of course to all of you other moms out there! On the topic of mothers (and daughters) – I’ve been watching a lot of Gilmore Girls recently (I’ve seen them all multiple times… Danny hasn’t… so now that they’re on Netflix, naturally, we started from the beginning). I still love everything about that show. It’s right there with Friends for me. It never gets old. Anyway, if you like the show, you’ll probably appreciate this. I especially agree with #10! lol So… back to Mother’s Day… as much as I do love flowers and I know she appreciates them, I wanted to go a little more original this year :) I was going between the Mandy Boat Tee and the Hemlock Tee – but I think what drew me more to the Mandy Boat Tee was the one version they show in the pictures that’s made from a really pretty blue stripe fabric – but overall I like the scoop neck better. SO… I went best of both worlds and found …

Favorite Holiday Memory

Note: This photo has absolutely nothing to do with this post; I just like it :) It was taken while on a walk in Cheyenne in 2012. So, my favorite holiday memory! I tried to track down photos to entertain you embarrass myself with, but apparently we only have videos… on VHS, of course. Aww… too bad ;) I have no idea how this tradition started, but every year growing up we would have Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve dinner at my Grandma’s house with all of the aunts, uncles, and cousins. On Thanksgiving, following dinner, while the adults cleaned up ;) we would sit down with paper and a pen and write a script for a Christmas play. There were 5 of us cousins; I say ‘we’ wrote the play, but technically  my sister and one of my cousins did most of the writing. I just remember playing under the stairs while throwing out an idea here and there. Between Thanksgiving and Christmas, we would finish the script, practice our lines, and prepare for the big …

Sunday Sew Love: 30 November

This week was extra exciting for me… Thursday was not only an awesome day of eating and family time, it was also my official official last day in the military! On Friday, I received my “Certificate of Release from Active Duty” form and email and it was such a weird feeling. I’ve been on terminal leave for the past month, so I haven’t been at work, but it still feels different. More on that later! I hope everyone who celebrates Thanksgiving had an awesome one! And for everyone else, I hope you still had some great food and a very happy Thursday. We had an awesome meal with the fam; my aunt and grandma made it down for the day. My grandma has a hard time getting around so my Aunt told her if she wanted to come see her great grandbaby she needed to be able to use her walker. So she got up a few times a day to practice with her walker so they could come visit! So sweet… she’s so excited to …
