Amazing Belize

Oh yea, and we are back from Belize! Got back last Sunday, actually. It was amazing. Here’s a quick summary of our week: Saturday: Finished up packing, dropped off the pups, and left for the airport around 9pm for our 12:55pm flight. Sunday: Slept in the airport (some) and on the plane (some). Caught our layover and met up with Danny’s family in Charlotte Sunday morning. Took a plane to a plane to a smaller plane to a taxi to a boat – and finally reached the resort (the flight to the island was spectacular) on Ambergris Caye.  Once we reached the dock, the resort had someone there to take our bags. During our walk to the front desk, we were given rum punch, and they had a lady waiting to give us massages while we checked in. Once we got settled in, we wandered over to the dive shop right down the beach and signed up for diving later in the week.       Monday: Woke up to the most amazing weather. Other than the …

Packing for Belize

So excited! We leave tomorrow night on a red-eye flight for Belize. It’s my first time out of the country (other than Canada or a cruise line) since I studied abroad in 2005… that’s way too long for my liking! :) We’re meeting up with (some of) Danny’s family and staying on one of the little secluded islands off the coast (Ambergris Caye)… apparently some of the best scuba diving in the world. I’m hoping that I get over myself and get brave enough to take a scuba course while I’m there… we’ll see tho :) Also hoping to take an excursion to the mainland to see some Mayan ruins and such. We’ll be there during the Costa Maya Festival, so hopefully it’s not too crazy. Whatever we do, I’m sure it will be amazing! So my bag has actually been packed since last weekend. I didn’t want to stress myself out, so I planned it out early for once. Normally, it takes me at least 6 hours to pack a bag… and I usually …

Baggage Claim Etiquette

I don’t have very many pet peeves. I like to think that I have a fairly high tolerance for crazy and annoying. But this is one that I can’t seem to get over. Every time I travel, it bothers me to the point that I start to worry that I might be developing anger issues. Like I might punch someone. Really. So I’ve just gotten off my nice, relaxing 3-hour flight where I got to wedge my head against the window and the chair in the hopes that I don’t wake up on the shoulder of the guy next to me (sorry guy on my last flight… I hope I didn’t drool too much). I trek my exhausted self from the plane to the shuttle and over to baggage claim #7. I stand a few feet back from the conveyor belt to wait patiently for my bags and before there is even enough time for a crowd to develop, a lady comes and stands directly in between me and the conveyor belt. Really!? Nope, I’m …
