Handmade Gift Exchange

Sometimes I complain to myself because I can’t think of something to make for someone I know. Well, that mentality was turned upside down when I started brainstorming what to make for a complete stranger! Seriously. Never realized how easy I had it. :) I entered the Summer Handmade Gift Exchange put on by Craftaholics Anonymous. The only clues I had about my gift exchange partner were that she likes coffee and the color orange. Here’s what I came up with: Bow Clutch, with orange accents of course (made from this tutorial that I’ve been gawking at on my “Things To Sew” Pinterest board for some time). The outer fabric is actually from a thrifted shower curtain that happens to be the same shower curtain I have hanging in my bathroom. Can you tell I like the pattern!? :) You can’t really tell from the pictures, but the lighter color has a bit of shimmer to it. Also used it for the ABC bag I made last year. Donation Dog Vests

So… funny story that led to these vests – when we moved into the new place and Danny got a desk, I was gone at training for a few weeks and he stole my desk chair. At some point shortly after I got back, he broke the chair (ok, so it’s funny overall… not funny for my poor desk chair). So, we went out and bought both of us new matching desk chairs. Then one day shortly after that he broke that one too! It’s ok to laugh (a little)… I did (a lot). lol… So anyway, the second chair had this mesh fabric for the chair back. Before we tossed it in the trash, I cut the fabric off with this project in mind. Finally,  this weekend I got around to trying a couple of different versions. Getting ready for October

Okay, so maybe it’s not technically October yet. But I’m definitely already getting into the Halloween spirit. Especially because I am making Seven Dwarfs costumes for myself and 6 of my co-workers. I’m 2 down right now… only 5 to go! Plus the shoes and belts (we are determined to win the clinic’s Halloween contest this year) :). But, today, I decided to take a break from the costumes and start getting ready for my own Halloween. I’m slowly collecting holiday decorations of my own, but I really don’t have much. So, I decided to put just about everything I have together this year to deck out my entry table. Birthdays and PJ Pants

Happy Birthday to two of my favorite people in the whole wide world! Bethany yesterday and Danny tomorrow! Bethany is finally old with me… and Danny is basically ancient… he’s turning the big 3-0! :) We were supposed to go down to Ft Collins yesterday for a cooking class… but this rain has been so insane the past few days… the highway was closed! Of course we didn’t look before we left, thinking for sure it would be open (yesterday morning was actually sunny for a while), but then we reached the flashing lights and barricade and had to turn around :/ Then we had plans to go to dinner with my pharmacy people (the guys were planning a shrimp-eating contest at Red Lobster)… but the weather killed that too. And of course we didn’t realize that one until we got there either.
