My First Tornado

Experienced my first real tornado today! Well, I don’t know if you can say “experienced”… here was the extent of it: Went to the post office at lunch and as I was driving back onto base, I noticed the clouds looked funny. I thought it looked like a tornado forming, but didn’t think anything of it. I’ve lived here for 3 years now and haven’t seen even one. But, by the time I parked, the tornado warning alarms were going off and everyone was running outside to take pictures (maybe not the smartest move…) before going downstairs into the tornado shelter. Anywhoo, I’m of course glad it didn’t come any closer. Really don’t want to experience one for real. No thank you there. Plus, last night we had a crazy hail storm that put poor little Finny boy into a nervous shaking fit :( Have I mentioned yet that I am ready for nicer weather. No? Ok, I’m ready for nicer weather. :)

ISFJ

I hate when these personality profiles act like they’re going to know more about me than I do. But then sometimes (ok, who am I kidding… most of the time) they are freakishly accurate. I’ve done a bunch of these things… but haven’t gotten my Myers-Briggs type before. You should try it :) This is me… the ISFJ! It’s not 100%… but it’s pretty darn close. What’s your personality type? While we’re on the subject, I also highly recommend reading this book: Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking. I know there are a ton of books out there on the subject, but this one really drew me in for some reason. I grew up being called shy and quiet and everything else your typical introvert hears on a daily basis. As corny as it sounds, this book has helped me understand myself better and I think it could be a super important read for any extroverted parents with introverted kids. Or for anyone, really. It’s important not only in home life, …

Oh, The Things You Can Subscribe To These Days

If you know me at all… you know that I love getting mail! And sending mail for that matter. We’ll just say I love supporting the postal service. :) So when I randomly stumbled across this blog and read her Stitch Fix review, I was immediately intrigued. Apparently it’s very popular… not sure how I haven’t come across it before. But… I’m giving it a try :) Now that I’m officially getting out of the military (more on that later), I feel like I need to attempt to create a real adult wardrobe. I’ve started this with my sewing – and that’s definitely the main avenue I’d like to go down. But I’ve realized I also need to figure out what my style is. And if I can have someone pick out my clothes for me – rather than having me default to the same old styles I’ve been wearing for years – all the better! If you haven’t heard of Stitch Fix – check it out –  the skinny: they have you fill out a huge style …

Finnjury

Whenever Finn plays too rough and scratches or bruises us, we call it a Finnjury. Well, this time Finn gave himself a Finnjury. The pathetic little guy wouldn’t leave it alone so we had to cone him :/ He wasn’t very excited about the situation…
